Not sure if I just ask good questions, or if we just have a ton of users on this site, but compared to my other internet forums this one is definitely the best. I've always been so surprised how everyone is very well behaved on here it seems. It never takes long at all to receive a response to most of my topics

This thread brought two thoughts to mind:

(1) BITOG is a master mind group. Most every walk of life on BITOG: technicians, farmers, pilots, IT, dentists, list goes on and on.

(2) Moderation- the moderators are the key to the activity and success on/of BITOG. A moderator of BITOG is a thankless job, nobody wants to enforce requirements, but the moderators who are all volunteers--- keep BITOG a purposeful, positive, and beneficial forum. Moderators are the reason BITOG is alive, well, and a benefit to so many.

Most UK based car forums are now dead, a lot of them shut down. The car-forum era is officially over and it makes me quite sad.

I miss the days you'd have a handful of guys on a car specific forum who knew the car like the back of their hand, I fulfilled that roll on a few forums that are now long gone. You could jump on a car specific forum, ask a question and you were sure to find someone who had the same issue, or at least knew exactly what the problem is. The modern day Facebook groups that took over just aren't the same, especially from a searchability perspective and general group-knowledge.

I was lucky I caught the end of it. There was meets, plans, ideas, events, jokes, engineering and friendships that that came as a result of forums and it's all just kind of died.

BITOG is the last place left for me where I feel like something is going on, but even here has slowly gotten quieter over the last 10 years.

Interesting. Seems like in the USA car forums are still alive.
