They use the orange can of death on the 6.7 cummins. I used to help out the ups guy at my work and you could see the filter. It didn't get changed often either as it had some oil running down the side, so I knew it was always the same one

+1 on the Safety-Kleen. Maybe the America's Choice/Performance Plus line though?

If it's true, it's a testament to Saftey Kleen lubes. AFAIK it's always been a fine oil, maybe lacking in the volatility dept. They never listed NOACK as anything lower than <15%, but that was during eariler, obsolete API specs. Walmart over here still sells the conventional America's Choice as the house brand, and their Synthetic (Performance Plus equiv) was sourced from Petro-Canada- possibly still is. Not sure who blends the Performance Plus (synthetic range) for the US market.

Delo 15w40 last time I looked. It was Delvac 1300 before that. I think Automotive bids out the contract every few years.

We have been doing service work at UPS , since about 1981 . At that time , I think most / all of their small package vans were gasoline . Now , they are most / all diesel . And , of course , their semi tractors are all diesel . So , I would thing they are using an oil appropriate for diesel engines . Wyr God bless

"Generic Label" Citgo is often the cheapest to buy in bulk (drums) so I see a lot of fleet service places use that oil. A big company like UPS can get better oil (Rotella, Delo, Delvac) because they can negotiate a much better price than a small business or fleet can.

Safety Kleen makes diesel oil too; for Wal-Mart. I just bought a pail last night.

Sure it is. It's cheaper and doesn't come in quarts.

Government Fleet here... We use correction enterprises which resells Hydrotex or Martin Lubricants. Sometimes we get around it but not always. https://www.correctionenterprises.com/products/dbfile.php?ITEMNBR=82-0190-03m http://martinlubricants.com/brands/ https://www.correctionenterprises.com/products/dbfile.php?ITEMNBR=82-15SN-03m https://www.hydrotexlube.com/ Now the asterisk: I often get a Shell product as a "substitute". Won't complain there and I don't know/care why. Go figure. Now the double asterisk: I only do Hydrotex/Martin/Shell inhouse. 90% of my PM is oursourced to a local shop. They use a Mobil-made Synblend bulk oil.

You're correct. I've pulled their trailers, and out of curiosity, I've asked a few of their shop mechanics. And for those interested: FedEx: Rotella Old Dominion: West of the Mississippi, Delvac Super 1300. East of the Mississippi, Castrol. And from what I've gathered, - and as already posted, big fleets choose the brand of oil they use based on lowest price. Which makes sense, as all of the major brands roughly meet the same specifications.
