Which oil for my vehicles

2004 Toyota Tacoma 3.4 with 94k
Mixed highway and city driving, with a little off-road here or there. Engine is clean and uses no oil.
I live in Georgia so mild in the winter, hot in the summer.

Also 1997 Honda Civic with 220k.
It's my daily driver and sees around 300 to 400 miles weekly on the highway.
What oil type and brand is recommended. Both require 5w30.

Oil filters tend to be the more important choice that tends to matter more and Purolator PureOne, OEM, or WIX is my choice for the price.

Pennzoil conventional or synthetic blend would be my choice for both of those as well. Quality oils known for keeping engines clean and having good protection additives, at all a very reasonable price.

But really any name-brand oil will do when it comes down to it.

Its probabley not a bad time to switch your civic on long OCI synthetic for rest of its life.

Something like maxlife synthetic blend is good, also PP and Moibl1. all can be had for less than 25 at wallmart.

filter purclassic, pur1, toughguard and ultra are all good and readily available choices.

I'm a fan of Pennzoil Conventional and M1 but PU, PP the car wouldn't know any difference between the 3. I'd use the Pennzoil Conventional for 5k or any of the others for 7500-maybe 10k if a used oil analysis supported it.

synthetic if u want to go a little longer on your oci. but if not a conventional will work fine. i like pu, if u can find it. pp is great too tho. but any quality name brand synthetic (or conventional for shorter oci) will meet your needs.

I have been using M1 for the Toyota and Mobil Super for the Honda. I notice the majority of people recommend Pennzoil. Is it a brand preference or is Pennzoil a superior product compared to XOM and Valvoline.

Well I used to use M1 in everything and I believe it is a great oil. My problem is that I can't go 10,000 miles before changing the oil. M1 and full synthetics give you a great advantage if you are comfortable running those intervals. Personally I only like to go around 5-6k between changes and believe full synthetic will provide no more protection during that change interval. In my opinion a synthetic blend gives me the best of both worlds and is what I have started using. BITOGers def love Pennzoil and I have been impressed with it so far.

Each brand has a product line that is comparable to other brands,so "better" is tough to say. I hate M1 however ill use it if the price is right. I'm a pennzoil fan.
M1 line is basically equal to pennzoil platinum/Quaker State Ultimate Durability. Mobil 1 Extended Performance is equal to pennzoil ultra basically,then of course there is the conventionals.
Buy whatever is the best deal at the time. Conventionals are good for 5000 miles or so. Synthetics are good for 10000 miles. The EP and ultra lines are 15000 mile oils.
And as said above there is no gain by running synthetics for short intervals. They last longer in service,they don't protect better,they protect longer.
