Also with the country of origin shift K&N lost efficiency in their product down to mid 80% compared to what it used to be mid 90%. This is an indication that they are using cellulose only media, which is a huge reduction in their manufacturing cost while the consumers are still paying top dollar for them! Your average blended media will easily hit 90%+ efficiency at 20 microns.
Yeah there are much better cost effective options out there. In my non scientific opinion, they cater to the old school mechanics.. a lot like the Lucas oil additive.
One could buy either 2 WIX or Fram Tough Guards for the price of 1 K&N. The only thing I like about K&N is the nut on the dome for easiy removal.
Baldwin is also another consideration.
