Which filter?

I plan on doing the oil changes by myself on the new LC Prado.
Since the dealer uses an OEM "american" filter that is widely used in USA Toyota vehicles, i guess this is the right place to ask this question.

Im looking for a filter to replace the 90915-YZZG1 or 90915-YZZD3. (First one usually used on smaller 4cyl engines and the latter on bigger V6/V8 engines)
Buying an OEM filter from the dealer is more expensive than buying a Fram Ultra and ship it here, so im looking for good a filter!

Im leaning towards a Fram Ultra but i dont know which is the correct one. I dont mind getting oversized filters as long as it is specced as replacements for these Toyota filters. (Preferably the YZZD3 since its the bigger one and the correct one for this engine i believe)

BTW, if you are wondering why i mentioned the YZZG1, well that's what the dealer installed but personally i dont think its the correct filter for the engine.

Fram cross reference says 3614,
but if you have the room, try a Fram 3600 or equivalent. It's a third longer, same base and bypass pressure as a 3614.

I like the Purolator PureOnes, (yellow can), which would be a PL10241, or the longer PL20195.

I remember seeking the old good Factory Toyota Denso filter for this application, to no avail.

The aftermarket Denso in this application is good, and inexpensive in bulk

Fram Ultra would also be a good choice.

Isn't Prado a miniature LC not sold in the US?
I would stick with Denso made filters. Japan made varieties if you can get hold of them. YZZG1 and YZZD1 should be the same, D3 is longer, equivalent of 20003.
If you want to get a long filter and if it fits your engine clearance wise get 90015-20003.
If price is a concern but you still want to get a good filter, buy NPN's 90915-YZZG1 which can be purchased for a buck or two. Made in Malaysia to Japanese standards.

I just put a 3614 Fram Ultra on daughters Camry, good value from Pep Boys, about $5 each deliverd. The G1 is a Purolator made Toyota filter. The Denso first time fit is another good filter which will match the OE except higher features like silicone adbv.

All the above filters will work. How easy is it to buy all the above filters mentioned? I assume you aren't in the US.

The WIX, Motorcraft FL-910s (WIX 51348 and Fram 3614 equivalents) and the Fram TG are good mid grade filters. Anything over 10k, I would use the Ultra.

The Motorcraft FL400s size (WIX 51516 and Fram 3600 equivalents) should be considered if you have the room. The FL400s should be cheaper as well.

Anything that is available at Amazon, eBay, or a reputable online store is fine.
OCI's will probably be 5K KMs since that is the recommended OCI in the manual and by the dealer. The engine is basically a 15+ year old design that Toyota still uses and there have been almost no updates since it was released, so i have a feeling that i should follow it just in case.

Also thinking about what oil should i use.

WIX, Motorcraft or Fram TG should work well for you then. Find whatever is cheapest.

Are you going to get your oil off Amazon too? Might be cheaper to buy locally. Again, this depends on what you have. Pennzoil, Shell Helux, Mobil, Castrol etc.

I'll get oil locally, air freight is expensive. Hahahahaha
Personally, i dont feel good using Fram OCODs. Wix and Purolator sounds better.

As for oil, still undecided. Not many diesel oils are available here. I can get a 1 gallon jug of Chevron 15w40 DELO 400 LE for $36 which is quite expensive but at the same time one of the cheapest, good diesel oils that i could find.
Or i might try Shell Rotella T6 5W-40, only if the price is right. (Havent checked)

Fram TG are not the OCOD...but I'd use a OCOD before I'd use a Purolator Classic or an E-Core filter.

Wix, PureONE, Bosch (PureONE), Fram TG, Fram XG, Hastings, Motorcraft are all quality filters. With 5k OCI's any of these would be sufficient.

Fram Ultra and be done with it. Leave it on for the equivalent of 15,000 miles even if you change your oil in the pan sooner.

Your troll signature is offensive!

The cheapest would be the motorcraft but that is made by purolater which is not so good these days out of those three wix is probably the best. I think wix has good flow also.

Oh, i thought ToughGuard were OCODs.

Actually, this is what i was thinking. Since the "good" synthethic filters are rated for 15K Miles im seriously considering using a synthethic filter for 2 OCIs. (Would be 10K Kilometers which is around 12 to 18 months depending on use)
