Why do people assume thaqt Mobil Drive CLean is going to keep the engine clean? It is just a name not a charteristic of the oil itself. Like someone is going to name an oil sludge fest in a bottle.

The answer lies in the Mobil Drive Clean 5000 add-pack. Some clean more than others. From what I've read at Mobil's site or on other boards, it's a good one for light cleaning. Email/write to or talk to Mobil-Exxon & ask them how Drive Clean stacks up against the competition.

It is now on Mobil 1 10w-30 and the difference is quite noticable. Much smoother and quiet with Mobil 1. I am somewhat disappointed with the Delos cleanning ability. Auto-rx is the only way I have found to clean an engine to my satisfaction. Oil lubricates auto-rx cleans.

True. I would like to point out that a 15W-40 oil is a higher viscosity than most Honda engines like. If you were to run Delo 400 10W-30 in your Accord (if you could find it

) then you would probably notice increased smoothness and quietness, too, compared to the 15W-40 variant.

Great observation, though... oil, even HDEO, is not designed for cleaning. A good HDEO will keep a clean engine cleaner (compared to PCMO), I am convinced.

Well, I'd say that HDEO's do have more dispersants and detergents. And, yes, some synths, especially those with...the magic word...esters, should "clean" the internals. Eg. Redline, Motul, and what..Penzoil Platinum? There's another thread going on right now called Esters/PAOs or something to that effect.

Hello from the dry end of the state, by the way! Can we have some of that water?
