I had the ATF fluid "flushed" at the dealer at 50k...approx 3 yrs ago. I'm fairly certain that they used a bulk dexIII
Fluid. The car now has 85k and I want to go to a quality full synthetic low shear fluid. This vehicles ff was dexIII but
GM has since said to use dexvi fluid. Amsoil lists ATF ( dexiiii) and ATL ( dexvi ) for this vehicle.

Which will provide better longevity, cleanliness , positive shift feel, and transmission protection ?

Or is there another fluid that I should be considering ?

Thanks for all insight.

Mike

Amsoil ATL is IMHO the best of the best. Make sure to service the filter with GM OEM or USA made Wix.
This an XLR 4.6 HO correct?

Get the dealer GM ATF...

If yours is still under warranty.. I would go dealer.

Amsoil is good and expensive.. probably cost the same as dealer. Approved for your Caddie

but what year Caddie??? What kid of Transmission?

So what you're actually asserting is that you've used Amsoil ATL for a long time in many vehicles and are pleased with it.

Yes

If it calls for dex 3, then I would use a dex vi. Brand doesn't matter to me. I also would not have an issue using valvoline syn atf that is dex 3 and dex vi compatible.

Pablo, is the ATF still fully synthetic ? This is for a 2005 STS. I think the
original dexIII gave the best shift feel so I think I will go with the ATF versus the
Lower viscosity ATL.

Thanks

Yes full synthetic (Grp IV and above) with NO VII's. I absolutely agree with you on sticking with the slightly higher 100°C Vis fluid. Thanks, Paul (use #515729)
