I was surprised to find that the www.motorcraft.com website only gives Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicle listings for any of the parts applications. It is as if Ford Motorcraft is completely uninterested in aftermarket applications to other products. Weird.

The Motorcraft filters seem to be one of the best values on the market.

Is there a lookup charct for non-Ford products somewhere?

TIA,
John

If you go to www.autozone.com (a big parts chain), I believe they'll tell you all the filters they stock for a given ride, including Motorcraft. But most chains only offer a small Motorcraft sampling mainly for Ford rides, so this might not get one very far.

You can also go through a trial-and-error process using the Wix or Baldwin "Filter Application" websites, comparing gaskets, threads and the like and cross-referencing back to Motorcraft. Rude and crude, but a good starting point.

Go to-
http://www.motorcraft.com/default.asp?T=3&PageID=0

Using their interchange guide, input another filter manufacturers # to get the MC #. You may get several MC#'s, so you may have to jump through some hoops to determine exactly which one you really want.
If you do get multiple #'s, take the MC# and back cross reference it to the Wix, Purolater Fram etc. sites to get a "consensus".

Thanks Bill. That method pretty much works, and you can even drill down to applications information once you get a part number.

I can not help but wonder why Ford Motorcraft would make it such a mysterious process to figure out their non-Ford applications. Considering that Ford now owns Jaguar and Volvo and controls Mazda you would think that they would at least list those applications.

Weird!

Several applications are of interest:

2003 Honda Accord V-6
2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette V-6
1996 Volvo 850 non-turbo
1965 Cadillac Fleetwood

To my knowledge, none of those vehicles can use a Ford filter. So unless you know where you can buy a non Ford-app Motorcraft filter for cheap, I'd try another brand.
