Where is Yamaha's Classic Cruisers?

Hey, at someone else's suggestion in here I did a search. I knew nothing about the backlash but there was no smoking gun like the Budweiser commercial. It was that a DEI program was instituted at Harley and people were upset about groups and legislation they were supporting. Guess what? Polaris (Indian) and everyone else has a program too. But dont expect many Harley riders to look that up either;)

Dumb move, yeah I guess. Any simple search on the internet shows multiple corporations doing the same thing, the biggest lately was Lowes Home Improvement store.

With that said all these companies are now reversing themselves, including Lowes and Harley Davidson.
Harley announced they ended the program due to backlash, same as Lowes (just using Lowes name as it was the latest example)
It will all be forgotten now, after all what else will a Harley rider buy? You either want to ride or not. Every company has or had these programs in affect. Harley ended theirs.

I read up a bit about it. I have to laugh at the Bloomberg spin. They certainly don't lay any blame with the new Harley CEO for creating the situation...

The heavy cruiser market doesn't interest me at this point anyway, so I have no dog in the fight.

No, me either
I already have one and suspect my last 🫤 before I retire riding

I like the Concours and wife is good if I get it but she wont get on it. *LOL*
oops there is one concern, I wonder if the riding angle will bother my back. I used to have some issues with my back but for some reason I do not know I never do anymore.

Concours is quite outdated, the FJR is a better bike IMO.

How about going to the dark side? BMW 1600 looks like it would fit you and your wife better with the riding position at least.

Agree, Concours is "outdated" but its a bike, exactly what is outdated, according to any review I read that is spot on reliable and everything it does it does well simply because its been refined over the years. SO yeah, it's limited in its electronics and that is what I want. However as you pointed out, no cruise control? IF that is true, its a flat out deal killer.

Im also at a point in my life where if I got something like a sport tourer it will be a step down from the Road King for our intended use. I certainly do not want to pay the same amount of money I would for a Harley. I do need a bike like the RK that can effortlessly travel a true GPS speed of at least 82 MPH all day long and not break a sweat OR get blown around by semi tractor trailers. RK handles this so well, with it on cruise (dont advise this) but can take your hands off the handle bars.

Yeah, BMW is a nice bike, VERY limited if any dealerships anyplace along get coast here in NC/ Maintenance is no picnic and well, actually this is true for any of the sport tourers they burn through rear tires every 6500 to 7500 miles My RK gets 13 to 15,000
Never mind the BMW cost, but you have one good point, riding position is MUCH more favorable but with that downright ugly exhaust though.

BTW I am not in the market for a new bike, just a curiosity the last couple years.
This is our current bike. Bought new 2014 in the Smoky Mountains, still hasn't needed a repair.
The trunk is an add on, it unclips with Harley's excellent snap off hardware, takes seconds to put the sissy bar on. We use the trunk for long trips.

Sissy bar below and all the stuff my wife can pack into the saddlebags, trunk and travel bag on top of the trunk when we travel.

Concours is outdated in terms of creature comforts, no cruise control, no heated grips, no traction modes. Also, the sport touring market is almost dead anyways, the market has shifted towards "adventure" bikes now.

For your intended use I don't think anything will beat Harley, even servicing favors HD because they are so dominant in the market, so naturally they will have more dealerships and indys that work and know them.

Edit to the above... *LOL* ok, looking at my photos, I decided I dont want to look at other bikes
Memories, priceless, Been going up to the Smoky mountain area for over a decade and on this bike for 8 years which is where we bought it in Pigeon Forge, took the Yami 1300 up there, came home on the Harley. .

Yeah, we went under that waterfall outside of Cashiers NC heading up to TN, must be half a dozen falls along the way. This was a grand one.

Ok I better get out of here ... before wife comes in here with a club.

My idea of a touring bike.

10 level traction control, including off
10 level wheelie control, including off
6 axis IMU
3 power settings
3 user configurable settings
3 level launch control
Brembo Stylema calipers
ABS that adjusts based on the 6 axis IMU. I have yet to find a scenario where it does something I don't like.
Bi-directional quickshifter. I have three other bikes with this feature, and one with an aftermarket quickshifter. But this bike works the smoothest.
CRUISE CONTROL
Available OEM heated grips

However if ridden as intended, the OEM tires were done in 1500 miles. Totally worth it. 😁

It's a great looking bike and it obviously served you well and gave you plenty of fond memories/experiences. I highly doubt anything else, including another HD would beat it, it would be just different.
