Naa, I always much preferred the Holden firing order, a much nicer sound IMO.

Can't say that I'm a fan of the way Cummins I6's sound.

I really like the way a V8 diesel with open pipes sounds.

Yup, my good friend's 6.0L PSD has open exhaust and sounds amazing! Like a 'stang on 'roids!

That 4.7L sound almost had me buying a Dodge Ram a few years ago, even the stock exhaust sounds very nice. Much better than the stock exhaust on the Hemi IMHO.

Get out. Theres no way a PSD or Duramax sound as cool as a Cummins.

The 6.0 PSD does have some wicked turbo whistle though.

I love the 4.7 Although I wouldn't want one in anything larger than a Dakota.

And of course the Mustangs with the right exhaust. I would have to say its between the muscle V8's and the Ferrari V12's two totally different sounds and Im not sure which one I like the best. JMO of course.

Try looking for a BRM H16, easier to find is the Renault V10.

OK, here's a Renault V10, admittedly on a dyno but you get the idea! Up to now, I'm unable to find a BRM H16 but I'll keep looking. There are plenty of V16's around, but that's not what I'm looking for!

V8- Ford 5.0 with exhaust and a Lotus I heard going down the street one time.

V6- GN with exhaust (definately not open dumped) and the accompanying turbo whistle. Especially the stageII car with 246 degrees of duration on a solid cam, the idle sounds like a cammed big block. The newer Nissans are ok but too "importish" for me, not enough gowl.

4 cylinder- Subaru WRX and a cammed turbo 2.3 a friend owned.

Weirdest good sounding would have to be a friend's CL65 Mercedes.

I got to take a friend of a friend's Murcilago (sp) out for an hour by myself and it didn't sound too bad lol.

Back in 1979 a guy running an independent Fiat repair shop across from where I worked had a Ferrari 365 GTB for a couple of weeks while he ordered in some parts and repaired it. When the repair was done he pulled out of his shop and took it down the street and through the first three gears.

It's an amazing sound you never forget. The car's exhaust made a tearing sound like cloth ripping. Loud, oh yeah, but not a rumble and not a howl.

The group C ones always sounded nice.

Hearing Agostini take the MV Agusta triple around the Pukekohe track was very impressive. The Moto Guzzi 500cc V8 not so by comparison....but I suspect there was a reluctance by Sammy Millar to rev it too hard.Still, both are something you don't hear every day....

I was gonna say I love the Ferrari sound, and if we drift to bikes.....nothing much better than a two stroke coming on the pipe, but a 427-500+ ci Chevy big block (in the car of your choice) - that is a mighty sound.
