Whats so great about Jeeps?

Some people love to work on cars. Jeeps even stock break constantly so you always have something to fix. Some people want their vehicles to break their spines when hitting road bumps and boy do Jeeps deliver in that capacity. Some people hate having money and if you spend the outlandish price on a new Jeep and all the money on repairs you will never have money.

So long story short I have no idea they are terrible in every possible way a vehicle can be.

Just curious, which ones have you owned??

We've owned several over 25 years and, are they Honda/Toyota painless? No, not even close but aside from one terrible one, they weren't that bad. That said, it was a 2008 Grand Cherokee that sold me on Range Rovers, as I figured if I was going to deal with the pain, I might as well get what I really wanted :ROFLMAO:

Is that the vehicle or some of the drivers that these appeal to?? My first one, a manual TJ, was truly excellent in the snow however I had appropriate tires and (mostly) know what I am doing driving wise.

I haven't had the current one in the snow and probably won't, but I cannot see them being any worse than the older ones vehicle wise.
They are dynamically challenged, and quick feet are desirable in snow. Yes, they move forward good, but that is about it. For tge same reason I prefer BMW or Tiguan in snow over Sequoia.
But yes, it is amplified by drivers who think off road capabilities translate into snow capabilities.

I’ve owned a number of 4x4 vehicles. The best I ever had in snow was a 2.2L Subaru Legacy wagon with the center diff (not FWD with RWD assist) in a 5MT, no ABS and minor suspension tweaks. It was an highly agile snow rocket until 10” or so.

Funny how things work out for different people. I have a 2007 Grand Cherokee: best and most reliable vehicle I have ever owned,

Not a jeep, but I am guessing when Jeep people think of snow this is it - chains on 4 wheels and everything locked.

I've been enjoying the ZR2 over the last few years. I WFH so I like to get out of the house and explore and go for drives on the weekend. The Pine Barrens are all we have in South Jersey other than the shore. ZR2 is extremely capable but I like the look and idea of a 2 door Jeep and Bronco. IFS of Bronco gives it an advantage on road but the solid axle of Jeep is more durable off-road.

I'd like to eventually see a legit EV off-roader (Rivians don't cut it and too expensive).

I was able to get a set of takoff springs from a Rubicon and update my stock Jeep. Price: $0.....Jeepers share with the poor, or those who don't have money to upgrade with aftermarket parts...I didn't gain anything other than 1.5" and a warm fuzzy feeling from accomplishing something. That is Jeeping.

They are OK, not my cup of tea, but most people who have them here drive slow. I live in a rural area with two lane only to the highway, and a Jeep ahead is always an immediate pass plan.

I wonder if you can buy a functional used one for less than a new ATV? The wife wants an ATV for the farm but the prices are stupid for ones that haven’t been wrapped around a tree twice. I’ll admit I’ve never looked at Jeep prices before.
Well, those here are as big as Jeep’s these days 😵‍💫

I’ll always be a Jeep fan. My parents had them when I was growing up. My parents still have their 87 Comanche that they bought new. They had an orange JK Wrangler Rubicon too. It was a fun. Mine has been great. Had it since 2009. Drove it to work today actually.

Not sure I like their new offerings though. My brothers 2016 JK has been decent minus the filter housing needing replaced. If I needed a new SUV, I guess their 4 door JL fits the bill for me.. a semi local dealer has a lifetime warranty deal going on with them. (Haven’t looked into it.) I believe my parents 2009 had something similar.
