Whats so great about Jeeps?

Drive something you enjoy vs an appliance that feeds on your soul to the point where it’s so deprived from meaning and enjoyment that you need to criticize random strangers on a forum for their brand choices, tough choice I guess 🤔
It's the not-so-subtle arrogance and condescension of the "informed", it's the same psychology behind conspiracy theories and advertising. If you've ever seen the Trivago ads where the boomer with the porcelain veneers is berating some rando who had the misfortune of ending up at the same table as him and his equally penny-pinched compatriot, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

It's psychological "oneupsmanship" where the endorphin release is triggered by the belief of being smarter, better informed and or "in on something" that somebody else clearly isn't. We see the same behaviour in dogs. My Shepherd is very proud of herself and struts around when she manages to either out maneuver our elderly boxer, getting something that he wanted, or get treated with something that he wasn't aware of.

I was able to get a set of takoff springs from a Rubicon and update my stock Jeep. Price: $0.....Jeepers share with the poor, or those who don't have money to upgrade with aftermarket parts...I didn't gain anything other than 1.5" and a warm fuzzy feeling from accomplishing something. That is Jeeping.

The Willys (pronounced Willis) is a nice configuration.

From what I've read the Ford/Jeep reliability is about the same with the edge going to Ford with the engine (2.7 v6) and Jeep with the transmission. The main difference is the old IFS vs solid axle issue. Ford better on road, Jeep off road although they're close.

I rode in an open jeep with my cousin over Big Bear in Colorado from Silverton to Teluride. It was a heck of a ride over the top and through streams. I don't know of anything else that would have made the trip since there were some real sharp corners on the trail that was a graded one. I was impressed by that straight six handling the altitude with a carb.

Here is the Wife's '22 Sahara, the last year to be able to get a manual in that trim. Special order, took forever.

I always assumed it was pronounced Willy with an s. Very interesting.

the biggest issue with making a Bronco as capable offroad is the amount of money you have to spend right up front. jeeps are super easy to modify but the Bronco is more complex and expensive to build up, . if I were just running dirt roads or mild stuff I would probably have one as I like Fords. One of best friends has been a ford tech at a large dealership for over 40 years and he owns a jeep and said they have too many front end issues with the new bronco even with mild use. We have done a lot of trail together over the years. including the Rubicon, dusy ershim, colorado trails and Moab many times.

Great shots! Thanks for the information. 👍

This is a good review of a Bronco from a guy who used to drive Jeeps, and used them extensively with a CO Offroad rescue group when he lived in CO. This Bronco has been on a few rescues as well. It was a much more detailed, lower drama version of Matt's Off Road Rescue before that channel existed.

I'm not against a Bronco, but I just like the Jeeps better for no other reason than I just do....I daily drive an F150 as an assigned company truck and would buy an F150 in a heartbeat. My Jeep could someday be replaced by a Bronco, but would more than likely be replaced by a pickup, as a pickup is more useful than a Jeep or Bronco.

I have friends with 3 Rubicons + a ZR2 that does big name trails … and one with a Bronco that just likes to hunt …
Both get ‘er done ☑️

My buddy just got a Ranger Raptor - leveled on 35’s …
Very impressed with that Ford …

I own Wranglers because I’ve found them to be reliable and they do what I need/want them to do. I also have a great Jeep dealer nearby.
I come from a “Ford family” but the nearest Ford dealers are unimpressive- to say the least.
