My kids are athletes and many times leave their gym bags in the car all day. Well one of my Toyotas reeks like a locker room in July. I have tried Febreeze and have left the windows down while in the garage for 3 weeks

Still the stink remains...I need help with this one.

Note: I have removed everything from the car...there is nothing rotting under the seats or anywhere else. Any ideas would be appreciated.

theres a odor killer "oziem" or something like that that auto parts stores carry, the pot heads love the stuff as it does a very good job of killing a scent.. probably have to double check on that name..

What car? ,if your car has a cabin filter, that most likely is the culprit. ,

You could try arm and hammer carpet powder, rub it in the carpet and seats, wait 2 hours, then vacuum.

Third option, find a good detail shop or quickie car wash that does interiors.

Brand new " Arm & Hammer" charcoal CAF installed 3 weeks ago.

Idea: put a plastic sheet behind the front seats, and tape the edges with tape-- sides, floor, and headliner. This separates the front and back of the car. If a day later, one part is significantly stinkier than the other, you are probably dealing with a single source that you track down. If both parts are stinky, then figure that the problem is spread out.

You should try vinegar. Vinegar absorbs other smells. Your car wil stink of vinegar for a day, then it goes away. Leave vinegar in a container overnight.

Sliced apples left in closed car for a couple of days may work.
Friend of mine brought a car that had sat for several days with a body in it and apples removed the smell.
Another remedy is to scatter a pound of coffee inside and leave it closed up as before then vacuum the coffee out.

2 cups hot water
3/4 cup hydrogen peroxide
1 teaspoon bleach

(can make as big of a batch as you want)

wipe literally every surface with it, it's safe for everything except adhesive stickers and maybe touchscreens. Best for fabrics.

Kills all bacteria, degreases, deodorizes, works fast.

Trade secret of car detailers.

You can try this:

HVAC cleaner

Not the plenum..already cleaned it. It is from the back seat and cargo area.

Wet clean the interior; anything fabric or carpet.

I use a small pump sprayer with carpet cleaner. A brush is used for stains. A shop-vac to remove the cleaner. Then fill the sprayer up with clean water, spray that, remove with shop-vac.

Leaves the vehicle smelling fresh and clean.

Repeat as required.
