Good day BITOGERS. vacation this week. May have to head back to late father’s estate. He had like 25~ give or take gallons of Mobil DEX III atf sitting on a shelf near the HDEO OIL. We were wondering what to do with it. I proposed bringing it home and donating it to my local “good wheels” low income car sale place. I don’t have a Toyota anymore but I’d hate to dump all this out. All jugs are still sealed.

Are there any shops or people in the area that burn used oil in a furnace for heat? I take mine to a local body shop where he collects it and burns it in the winter to heat his shop.
If you can’t find a home for it, giving it to someone who would use it for heat would be a great option.

If it's not that old, we have a use for it in our fleet. You can still use DEX/MERC III in some modern transmissions and it'll actually improve the shift quality, you'd be surprised at the flame resistance on it as well. We use it in place of toyota WS/SP-IV and Mercon LV. Transmission shops nearby have a use for it as well.

edit: if you're going to use this in a newer vehicle, please reset the transmission shift learning or fluid degradation rate parameters. IT STILL HAS A USE. Just monitor fluid quality.

Don't believe me, send a sample after 30,000mi to blackstone labs. They'll tell you

Replace 1 quart of engine oil for a few oil changes with that Dexron III for a slow clean of your engine insides.
