What kind and quantity of oil filters have you all accumulated?
I am responsible for changing oil on 5 vehicles... Two cars and three bikes.
Fortunately all 5 vehicles take the same form-factor, in this case it's the ubiquitous 6607 filter.
So I've got a half dozen Bosch 3300 filters I got from Rock Auto only to discover that they don't fit the bikes anymore. Only the cars...
Due to a design change in the mounting plate, they don't make a good seal on the bikes. I actually bought a dozen and between the two cars have been able to use half of them.
I've got a single Honda motorcycle filter that I paid $20 for when I realized the Bosch 3300 didn't fit the bikes. I might install it someday, but Ive been using it to compare with other filters to determine suitability for use on the bikes.
I have a few SuperTech ST6607 that I've been using on my water cooled bikes, and a couple of Fram PH6607a which are specifically advertised as a motorcycle filter.
One of my bikes, a CB1100S, is air cooled and is known for being hard on oil, so I purchased a Pentius 6607 with a silicone ADBV... But so far the Fram PH6607a is holding up well.
I also recently acquired a box of 12 MP6607, the SuperTech long life version with the silicone ADBV.
So I guess I've got two dozen filters sitting on the shelf...
I didnt intend to become an oil filter geek. It just sort of happened!
