Not a big deal but checking the oil level on my 2.5 I4 13 Camry with 32k today and I see a little brown translucent spec on a cylindrical part (top of a lifter or just maybe a spark plug tube) just above the oil fill baffle.

I touch it and I sticks right to my nail , it had no adhesion.

It was translucent and too small to feel if it was plastic or otherwise.

This better not be a bit of a timing chain guide. I tought these timing chains on Camrys were basically a no replacement item unless they gave you an particularly audible warning.

Any ideas how it got up there? I partly bashfully will admit that it's had TGMO oil changes every 3-5k (some consider wasteful) and the oil pumped up there should be clear by the filter element which has 5k on it.

you should try changing my tractor oil sometime

Ah but this was found before the oil change which is after 5k miles of filtering.

But thanks for admitting that you have a nose picking problem.

Beats me, it either came from outside or inside of the engine. So something had to fall in, or something fell off from within. I doubt its anything to worry about though...you probably have 200K left in that motor.

Lol, I thought this would pull you in Doog. Btw, I once worked with a fella named Derf. Yep Derf. I didn't think anything of it until we err washing up for lunch in the men's room. Looked at the mirror and saw his name badge read "Fred".

It's all "Good".

Probably a pre cursor to varnish! LOL! Maybe a insoluble or some foreign infinite piece of debris. I wouldn't lose sleep over it

Just relax with that engine and do the factory OCI with the TGMO

Too many automakers and engines have mechanical issues/failures/defects.

I'd ignore the factory OCI. If you plan on keeping the vehicle, take better care of it. This goes for any other fluid in the vehicle too.
