What pet is better in your opinion: dog or cat?

If they didn't have such short lifespans, I'd love to have one someday.
Years ago I worked at a crazy place. There was a woman with a great Dane that lived in her pickup truck in the back of the parking lot. Her parents didn't like the dog or didn't want her to get it and said the dog is not living in their house. So, she moved out and lived in her truck with the dog. And that's not even top 10 craziest story from the that I worked there.

Sounds like a bipolar cover story, lol.

They both have their pros and cons. A cat is less maintenance and doesn't need let out. Both are happy to see you. We have 2 dogs and a cat. The cat is a tortoise shell, which strangely enough has the temperament of a dog. Lol.

I call our gang the 3 dog night.. Big dog, little dog and the cat dog.

Same same same when we had two dogs and a cat. But it gets weirder, our cat learned to bark, well as much as he could "bark". He was not in distress, he was doing it with a purpose.

Ours will make a strange noise at the end of the hall in attempt to get the dogs all riled up. Used to really work with our previous GSD. The mutt we have now couldn’t care less, but the pug will get going every once in a while. Lol

I’m going with cats… she legitimately saved my life from getting t boned by a guy doing 60mph.

“There is no stronger bond than the one between a man and the cat he didn’t want.”

Fifteen years of devotion so far. His clock is running out. He is past the expiration date his Dr gave him last year and with a smile the Dr says, "he is hanging in there!"

We pay him back in the devotion he gave to us. Lost both eyes at the age of 12. Was still the same old dog he always was and to this day still plays with his toys, get more tired easily now. Has this built in clock day to night to morning, knows his routine like an alarm clock. Amazing. 8am he wakes up, somehow knows I am still in bed, since I am the one to walk him, feed him and give him a toy to play with every morning he waits on my side of the bed for me to get up. Never makes a sound, just gets out of his bed and lays on the floor next to my side of the bed.

He knows 4:30 pm is getting close to dinner, looks forward to a walk before dinner.
He knows 8 Pm, looks forward to a walk with my wife
He knows 10:15 Pm, time for him to go to bed.

If any of the above steps are missed. He will let out 1 bark at a time, every 2 minutes.

Never destroyed anything in the house. A real gentleman.

Always amazes me, I have a thousand photos, like just this morning, him patiently waiting for me to get out of bed.
His heart valves are deteriorating and takes a FDA Approved heart medicine for his condition that improves heart function to make up for the valves. At some point it will no longer help and then we will make that decision.

When I was young I had cats and they were great, I dont think fair to compare the two and many in here said it right. They are two different animals that bring different kinds of companionship and joy to their owners. I'll never have another dog. Nothing will measure up to him and it would not be fair to another dog.

Photo is him, just this morning waiting silently for me to get out of bed.

At the end of July was his 15th birthday and will be his last birthday, I grilled him a ribeye steak, wife did the decorating.

and almost everyday, he finds his way into my office and lays down next to me on his "day bed"

Yeah, we love our dog, I know, some might think a little over the top but it is what it is.

She warms my heart ♥ and soul. Kinda needy all time, horrible breath, etc but her love is genuine and I needed her to love. Sleeps each night with her. In the winter, she burrows under the sheets and summer she does as she pleases. Snores just like her mom and has as much gas as me. Having a Snoopy Dog 🐶 Beagle has been a blessing to me

Beagles are definitely unique. I must have been to 5 birthday parties at my in-laws where their beagle snuck up onto the table and helped herself to some birthday cake. I can still hear my sister-in-laws voice yelling her husband's name as if it was his fault.
