Tell her it's good for the environment, 3k is a waste of money and damaging to the environment. There's only so much oil out there and the real problem is a lot of it isn't disposed of properly. Send her to http://www.checkyournumber.org/

The transmission has never been serviced. Thanks to the OM saying it's a life time fluid, she thinks it doesn't need to be changed. I've told her that wasn't case but still.

And I don't need life lessons or marriage tips. Read the thread and how the issue of changing oil brands came up. I'm not trying to assert my "dominance", I'm giving her my opinion on what I think she should do to keep her Corrolla going strong.

Just a wild and crazy thought..... Perhaps the OM is correct on this one as it has not failed? Perhaps all it needs is to be checked and topped off every few years?

Yep, one should count one's lucky stars that she's not putting in City Star or simply not checking at all, or never having it changed.

You definitely don't wear the jeans in that relationship! Be advised Run MS5K 6k OCI. Use with confidence and sleep well at night.

sounds like she has another dude telling her that gtx is the best...
As for the 3000 mile oil change that is a complete waste of oil and does nothing except put more wear on the engine due to dry starts when using a new filter even if u fill it first. 5000 or 6 months is good

Lol I don't think so pal. Go back to watching Jersey Shore. Her family is a big believer in GTX, and they use it in everything.

I would rather have Supertech that GTX.

GTX isn't bad, but I agree with this. I'm changing the oil in the Corrolla tomorrow and I will be using Pennzoil Syn blend. I'm gonna do a 6K mile OCI using this.

I think you went from a bottom shelf conventional to the top, even though its a syn blend, it's a superior choice IMHO.

Changing the oil in her car to something she doesn't want without asking her or telling her? Oh yeah, you're not trying to establish your dominance over her at all.

And for the poster that said that some other guy is telling her that GTX is the best? I think he meant to imply that her dad told her to use GTX and nothing else, not some boyfried or the like.

Yeah I didn't force her. Some of you need to go back and re read this thread, but then again it seems that a large sum of people on this board lack reading comprehension. Maybe take some night classes, or read some Dr. Seuss books to help with that.

It was between PYB, Pennzoil Syn Blend and M1. I told her that if she has any leaks covered up by sludge/muck/dirt whatever, that M1 MAY clean that off and cause the leak to show itself. Since Syn Blend was only $16.27 we got that, as it was cheap and was semi synthetic. She's already commented on quiet the Corrolla is at start up in the mornings, so it seems she's happy with the oil SHE picked.
