I been using PP but I've been wanting to try PU ever since I've seen it at Walmart but I had to use up my PP first.

I'll post a pic of it when it scaled 27k truck and trailer tomorrow night cause my cell phone with the pic is in my truck and I'm too tired to go out side to get the phone

GC wouldn't be a bad choice at all, but you might want to shoot OVERK1LL a PM. He's been experimenting with M1 TSUV 5W-40 and M1 0W-40 with good results.

At work we use 5w20 plain Jane Valvoline in everything that calls for 5w20. None of the commercial vehicles that get the #$%% beat out of them come in knocking etc. They are tough and designed for 5w20. I wouldn't change a thing, your in good shape with the MC 5w20 blend.

We'll never know without an oil temperature reading, but I'd be willing to bet oil temps can creep pretty high with a load that massive. Better to err on the side of caution when going that far outside of the OEM's parameters.

I really don't feel like dredging up Scott Whitehead's (Ford systems engineer for the 2005 4.6 3V and 2003 4.6 4V) comments again, but I will. Let's just say the man behind the 4.6 3V and 4.6 4V, who has torn down dozens of these engines during durability testing, isn't the biggest fan of 5W-20s in severe service.

No argument from me (not a Ford fan). However, I have seen many commercial vehicles 3 qts low on a 8k mile OCI with over 200k. Just food for thought.

I put the little 5.4 thru [censored] and back lol one of my workers even loaded about 9 ton of wet dirt in the bed it was coming over the side boards and I had to drive it 10 miles to the dump and the 5.4 handled it fine. My cousin and I put his 05 F350 srw V10 thru worst than my 5.4.

I don't care either way but why do Ford owners feel that it is mandatory that they MUST use Motorcraft oil and filters?

I always use oem oil filters I use AC Delco on my Chevys and Motorcraft on my Ford and I use Mack filters on my Mack trucks and when I had my 05 Dodge Ram Rumble Bee I used Mopar filters. And I only used Motorcraft oil on my Fords cause I feel it's a decent oil for a cheap price. How can you beat it 5 quarts for $11.50 at Walmart?

I don't know of anyone that feels it is mandatory; in fact, I've never used Motorcraft oil in either of my engines. I like Motorcraft oil filters because of the price, ADBV construction and bypass valve design (versus Purolator).

If only I could find a glass media filter with a thread end bypass, then I'd be set.

Exactly. MC filters have a fantastic design and construction, but only cost what, $3.50 or so depending on the filter? (FL820S is $3.50 here)
