What is the consensus on Mobil 1 filters?

Made my way to Walmart this morning to purchase some oil and found myself examining the Mobil 1 oil filters. They seemed very high quality, so I placed 2 in the cart lol. The $11 filter seemed like a better deal than the rusty champ labs Fram Endurance at $12. What does Bitog currently think of these?
In the fitment of interest to me (M1-110a), they are now a PGI made filter.

But they cost more than the premium Microguard or Cargquest PGO filters, so I'll just stay with the Microguards from the ORAP up the street.

All of them? The m1-110 sure fooled me into thinking it was PGI. Even made in viet nam like my Microguards. Same half-celophane wrap, some metal band around the endplate, etc.
I think some of the Mobil filters are also made in S. Korea, maybe China ... haven't been keeping track. I've settled on either Carquest Premium or Microgard Select. The new Mobil filter has a very similar design and could be made in the same factory as some of the PGI filters, but PGI doesn't have Mobil under them ... it's Highline Warren, who is not associated with PGI.

I've been using Mobil 1 or K & N filters for years, mostly because I don't like FRAM and I can usually always find one of the two oil filters (Mobil 1 or K & N) at alot of auto stores or Walmart by me. I've never had any issue's with either brands filters. I have one car whereby I try to find K & N's solely based on their "welded nut feature" on the face of their filters. It's a bit of a tight squeeze on one of my cars and that unique feature on those k & N's makes replacing quicker and easier.
I'll tell you what, for years now, especially if I'm buying the filter at Walmart, I always open the box to confirm the Mobil 1 filter I'm paying twice as much for vs the FRAM is actually inside the box. It's happened to me several times where a scumbag thief swaps the filters, so he gets a Mobil 1 filter for half price and you get a FRAM filter at twice the price. Always at Walmart. I can't stand thieves.

I've used a couple Mobil 1 filters with no issues but I can actually get the Mazda dealer filters cheaper than the Mobil 1 so I just go buy 2-4 filters and I'm good for a year or two. I still use Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W30 I just use a OEM filter now instead of the matching Mobil 1.

No clue on efficiency but I pay close to half for oem filter over mobil 1 filter but I do this because I'm still under warranty.
OEM's don't make filters. What OEM filter are you using?

Along the same lines - does M1 publish efficiency specs on the new build? I know the PG build we have some data, but that is assuming all the variants use identical media - which we really don't know.

I think if the M1 is not the same build as PG, then its made in the same factory. I am pretty sure PG doesn't own the factories in Viet Nam, and for sure they don't in China because the CCP owns all the factories in China irrelevant of what the westerners tell you.

Sure looks the same as the Carquest Premium to me.

Either way, its more money than the Carquest Premium, but its still nice to have an alternate and convenient source.

OK i give,, what filters are 1/2 the price with same efficiency as mobil 1???

These filters they are 99% efficiency @ 20 microns and I paid $5.19 each. Got a dozen.

The efficiency on the new Mobil 1 filter built under Highline Warren is 99% @ 30u. It's printed on the box, and I also had an email confirmation from a manager at Highline Warren. He told me that efficiency was specified my Mobil 1. It was the same efficiency when built by Mann+Hummel. The new Mobil 1 filter looks very similar to filters under PGI, but PGI has no connection to Highline Warren or Mobil 1.

I believe we shunned these due to this thread - the center tube knock outs weren't fully stamped out. Unfortunately the pictures are no longer available for some reason.

You just need to avoid that China made XL version or at least give a good inspection on them.

Maybe, but how do I do that ordering from Amazon.

My last batch of Carquest Premium were China build? Now what.

We can believe all we want that PG / Pentius / Mobil 1 are all built in different factories because there not affiliated with each other, but in China the CCP owns everything, so they could certainly be the same factories - or they could be dealing with a Chinese middleman that outsources the build wherever.

There are WAY TOO MANY factories in China so the chances that the Chinese Pentius extended filters are coming from the same factory as a Premium Guard Carquest Premium product are pretty slim IMO. .. The very first PRC Pentius XL batches to be sampled by members here had some issues where as even the Pentius jobber China filters have had no major issues that I have seen and those have been around for a LONG time so I would guess even their two levels of filters from China sources are coming from different factories themselves...

Here is a Chinese Pentius jobber from ALMOST 20 YEARS AGO. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/pentius-plb3600-photos-dissection.81361/

If I were to order them I would just inspect it more carefully if it says PRC on the label or just send it back if you are not comfortable with the factory location. .. The Korean ones have been the best filters I have seen on the market period and that includes even a little better than the PG stuff IMO.

First, its likely not made in one factory in china - someone stamps the parts, someone forms the media, and someone assembles the final product. There probably all in the same industrial park in some location in China, because that is how the CCP does things.

Second - how do I order a Pentius / Mobil 1/ PG filter made in Vietman? You can't. You get what you get.

So yes, I can inspect, put a vacuum on it, run a chaser through the threads, then decide if I am keeping it or not. I can do that with any brand frankly. And that is my point. Pentius / Mobil 1 / PG are the best filters we can buy currently - if we jump through hoops, inspect, and be ready to return them.

So in the end, that makes them sort of trash also. I have become the QC department for my filter supplier.

I have to be honest and not favor any brand. Pentius was one of my favorites. The Pentius are now on my naughty watch list. Which means inspection is needed. M+H and First Brands filters are on my do not buy list. I have yet to see a bad PGI made filter from any coo. The Mobil 1 is still new but haven’t seen a bad one. Honestly nothing goes in or on my vehicles without inspection.
