What is a good dry chain lube for oring chain - even though owners manual says no

My suzuki tu250x says to wash chain in kerosin and then apply a heavy notor oil. It advises against dry lubricants and I was curious as to why? I do not want road grime and junk stuck all over the chain, and so not want oil spray all over it either.

Any recommendations.
 
If you have a BMW dealer, their chain lube is really good. It goes on pretty dry and white. It’s one of the cheapest items at the BMW dealer too😉

There isn't much lube needed with an o-ring chain. The lube is sealed in the o-rings and anything on the outside that is sticky will just collect dirt. I was always told just spray the out side with something to keep it from rusting like WD-40.
 
Dry lube is a tough call. It goes on wet and then the carrier liquid dries off. The problem is that most do not offer any rust protection.

I'm using Liquid Wrench Chain and Cable lube on my Honda's chain. I never clean it. I just re-lube every couple of tank fulls or after riding in the rain. Any road grime drips off with any excess lube. Once the carrier fluid flashes off, the lube does not sling, so just lube at the end of the day and it will "dry" overnight. I have 16K miles on the OEM chain and still motoring along fine.

I find even when using a lubed o-ring or x-ring chain, it is still best to use a lube. The sprockets have lasted MUCH longer when keeping my chain lubed. Clean with WD-40, then PJ1 Blue...I have had chains last well over 20k miles.
 
I recommend Motul Chain Paste because it is the same white grease
used by the chain factories... squeeze the white grease from the tube
and load the brush... Hold the loaded brush to the inside of the chain
rollers to transfer the white grease... After a couple of spins of the
chain it's lubed like from the Factory... Motul Chain Paste clings...

The center rollers are not sealed. Lube is needed inside the center rollers, and between the rollers and sprocket teeth.
 
I wouldn't call that a dry lubricant. I a parafin based oil
I've used it for decades. If you over lube and ride 90+ MPH you might get a little fling. I never see any dirt or grime sticking to the chain, but using it mosly on street bikes.
 
I've yet to see a "dry" chain lube. Also if there was one, how would it stay on the chain?

Uses VOC's or something similar as a carrier. Those light aromatics flash off and leaving the base wax or whatever lubricant is being used, leaving behind something that is viscous enough to be considered "dry" when at room temp.
 
I bet I haven't owned anything with a chain drive on it in 40 years. In the motorcycle world it's only cheaper made small bikes, and scooters that still have them. The rest are belts and shaft drives. My snow blower still uses a chain in the drive line, but that's about it. I've never lubed it. I read most of these post and didn't know there are so many company's that still make a chain lube.,,

Chains have the least amount of power loss to the wheel. So they make the most sense on sport bikes.

On cheaper/regular bikes, I agree it’s likely a budget problem thing.
 
when i was into motorcycling, I used PJ1 chain lube,worked great.if on a budget try Mystik jt-6 aerosol spray grease ,soaks in then sets up thick. (green and white can).
