I've studied quite a few motorcycle safety books and accident accounts, mostly because while I love riding and do it alot, I have a healthy fear of dying on a bike.
This looks like classic target fixation as described in those accounts. A very very common cause of motorcycle accidents, especially among inexperienced riders.
You can tell this guy is inexperienced because, among other things, he passed basically on a blind right hander. It would have been dramatically easier to pass when the corner bent left. He could have just cut off the corner while the truck took the long way around....all the while being able to see to the apex of the following upcoming right-hander.
He came out of a blind corner, noticed the gully and didn't even try to lean it. He just looked straight at what he was afraid of, froze, and rode right into it. No attempt to turn and no attempt whatsoever at emergency braking. A totally unforced error.
You can lean anything over. My cousin rides a huge harley (motorcycle cop looking bike)....and I ride a sport-bike. He's hard to keep up with in the corners, even on that huge pig, he's just a really good rider.
I've ridden his harley and it turns pretty nicely actually, a bit of countersteer does the trick.
Check out this guy on what is probably an 800lb goldwing...anything will lean and turn..check out the sparks!
Viewing as much video like that as we can helps keep us safe on our bikes!
