What do you make of these Purolator PBL24011 filters.....not imporessed!

I just bought my first Purolator Boss PBL24011 filters and the louvers look super sloppy and not fully open. I paid about $15 each and I'm worried to use them on my 1996 Caprice and 1997 GMC Sierra. These were the best pictures I could get but you can see the louvers were not cut well and are odd shaped and jagged looking and nowhere fully open. I was expecting a much better looking filter. My Mobil 1 filters look waaaaaaaay better and Mann-Hummel makes them both? What gives? Should I return these?

I would return them and go to Walmart spend $11 on the new Mobil 1 filters made in Vietnam/South Korea.

Don't buy M+H products until they get their quality control back.

Yes.. Return those immediately... Go to Walmart and get the Mobil 1 filter because it is safe now that MH doesn't make it anymore or you can get the Microgard Select at Oreilly's or the Carquest Premium at Advance and you won't find ridiculous louvers that the customer is required to do the QC check on.

thanks gentlemen! So do we want to avoid filter with louvers completely? What about the Supertech with the plastic center tube that is wide open? My Mann Hummel made Mobil 1 filters look much better with wide open, symmetrical louvers. Should I use those? One is on my Honda Accord 3.5 V6.

well if you want to go around doing qc checks on these filters then use whatever you want but why give your money to a company that doesn't really do enough qc checks?? .. Supertech E-core is good IMO.... if you have filters already and they look fine then probably just use them.

Would not run them myself. I would return them. M&H sure seems to be sorry state these days for filters. Don't even get me started on the black death glue they are using on some of their filters.

Champ/Fram the makers of Super Tech oil filters are having QC issues too. That is why @Furious & @DannyM are recommending filters that have proven to be qood quality these days.

Unfortunately it’s a race to the bottom for M+H(Purolator) and First Brands. Maximum profit, minimum quality currently.
