New Purolator Gold Filters

Thanks for the insights, still learning about filters since most of my life I was told Napa Gold and/ WIX with Mobil 1 oil.
No problem. Just following up on your initial to give an accurate picture of what the material seen is, and specifically that not metallic. As for the noted Napa Gold and Wix filters, until relatively recently and for many years were the same filters, majority spin on made in the US. Now best information says Gold filter a PGI/Premium Guard made filter. As for the Mobil 1 oil filter, for many years made by Champ Labs then some years ago switched to M&H Purolator US made as date format confirmed. Current M1 coo(s), similar to PGI made filters

........and they prefer using European made ones
In my observation post use anecdotes, Euro Mann oil filters, spin on and cartridges are well made and generally highly regarded. Some Euro OEM made by Mann.

Stopped in today at Walmart by my work (had a list from the wife.) Popped over to automotive section. They now have the Purolators. I opened one of the 6607 ones to look at it. Had the same "box" debris sitting on the gasket. Overall they don't seem bad, but I think too high a price point for me. Should be close to $6-$7.

Mabe some one disagree with me on this, 2 reason I don’t pick the new 20k purolator from Walmart yet are .

The Debris all over the gasket,

Second the box is cheap made, it’s not sturdy like other box. when I grab the filter, the box crush in, made me feel it’s not a quality product.

Solid boxes solid filters.

These are of great quality

Nothing new under the sun...

Most buyers not checking further would think they are getting synthetic media, but it is synthetic blend. Majority of buyers don’t check further. One place the say 99.9%, another place 99%.
Agree. Only us oil filter nerds dig deep. I’ve covered the efficiencies multiple times in multiple threads.

Purolator hasn’t been at the top of the game for a while now. Unfortunately

Hmm. Well that's a bummer. I assume they got bought out?

I never thought I'd see the University of Kentucky be good at football. I never thought I'd see Katy Perry launched into orbit in a spacecraft. And I never thought I'd see the day when people would recommend Fram filters over other brands. I guess I'm getting old and a lot is changing around me.
