Besides the usual family, friends, volunteering, etc., what special projects did you do?

I went and got a bunch of used 22ga Lyon US made shelving, bought a US-Made Husky tool cabinet at HD and put a bunch of stuff in better organization in my Garage. My FIL helped orchestrate the whole thing and we just did a little each day. There is a ton of stuff that I don't need or have to use or throw out, which is currently just taking shelf space.

It all went together pretty easy, and I tapcon'd it to the concrete.

What did everyone do?

Hickory smoked turkey & two apple wood smoked hams.
Oh, and some fishing & metal detecting to get away from it all.
Kept the Harleys in the garage this time.
Watched some football.
Tied some flies for fly fishing.
2A3 tube amp stereo system.
Ate more turkey & ham.
Drooled on myself.

Also cleaned the garage. This involved moving out a bunch of old, stored furniture, to make room for the lawnmower. The governor on the lawnmower engine failed, so that's a winter project.

Tinkered with a newly acquired generator (purchased courtesy of Sandy).

Went to Philly on Friday and otherwise cleaned around the house.

I turned down several invites for a sit down meal Thursday.

While most people were getting ready to sit down to a feast, I drove to the ocean and ate a Turkey sandwich and paddled out in some spectacular conditions.

There was almost nobody out. If this were not Thanksgiving there would have been at least 60.

I was a wave magnet. There was no wind. No competition, no obstacles. Just me, some cedar, epoxy and fiberglass of my own creation. I stayed till dark and came in exhausted and oh so satisfied.

So fun. So rewarding,

To put it in automotive terms, I was given a sports car to drive on a closed empty track, where as most of the time, surfing these parts is like a game of frogger with crowds and obstacles and left lane campers.

Friday, I changed my oil.
Saturday I drew plans for earning the next dollar.
Today, I was an armored wave magnet, alone in a crowd, and secretly laughing, and very thankful for knowing how to ride ocean waves, and having a lifestyle and the remaining physical ability to do it, and do it pretty well.

Changed the air filter, oil filter & full flow oil filter in the Golf. Out came the Schaeffer 9000, in went a frankenblend of the last half gallon of Schaeffer 9000, half a quart of Castrol Professional OE 5w30 and the rest was Mobil 1 TDT. Used the new (free, warranty replacement) Mityvac 7400... hope it holds up better than the previous one.

Other than that, potty training the kiddo. Had to pull out the carpet cleaner only once, and that was to clean up some chocolate milk.

I took last week off work, but still worked my part-time job on Saturday and Sunday. I went to the dentist and the eye doctor for regular check-ups, winterized my lawn mower and weed whacker, got the snowblower ready for winter, replaced the transfer case shift motor on the Explorer. A large tree fell in my yard during Hurricane Sandy and I'm still working on cutting it up. I've been busy with work and have been chipping away at it on weekends. Made really good progress on it this week. I also went looking at engagement rings with my girlfriend.

I changed my MTF out with AC Delco synchromesh friction modified...

Then proceeded to tear down my friends 200whp N/A b18c1 to see the damage that started the knocking and enjoy some beers, luckily it was only a spun bearing.

You totally win! I went up to B.C. for a couple of days, no T-Giving to worry about up there. Did two days of XC skiing and bummed around Vancouver. Got back late Friday, road about 170 miles over the weekend, then took the dogs for a (slow) hike. I'm pretty beat! Surfing the web is about all the energy have left...

In my defense, I got of work done around the house that last few weekends.

LOF, cabin filter on the Nissan.
Clayed and waxed my car, apparently the Riccardo yellow clay left a ton of swirls and scratches that I had not expected. More polishing to do next weekend.
Got the Previa fixed at the dealer.
Did an oil change and oil cooler o-ring on a neighbor's G35.
Spent too much money at a friend's bday dinner for not so great food.
And of course, thanksgiving dinner.

Visited my daughter and family in Atlanta.
Ate entirely too much.
Caught up on sleep.
Helped put up the tree at my in-laws' house.
Went to the Clemson-Carolina game and nearly froze to death but had a great time anyway.
Averaged 20.1 MPG on my trip home today. Took a couple of detours through some nice little towns and pecan orchards in South Georgia.
Gave Thanks that I have a healthy and intelligent daughter, a wife that loves me and we are all a very close family, I have food to eat, a roof over my head and I made it to Atlanta and back home without any trouble with my truck or accidents/injuries.

Slept in, worked around the house on projects I had been ignoring. Got some electrical stuff fixed on my 63 Buick that I had been wanting to fix and then took it for a nice cruise. Dang good 4 days!
