What are your favorite aircraft . Fantasizing which would we like to own ?

Fantasies? F-14. I know a few folks who would be able to help me with the maintenance, which runs about 50 hours per flight hour, give or take, assuming you could get parts...

Still a fantasy (just requires lottery money) would be a P-51. The sound of that engine is wonderful, not to mention that it was built by Packard, and the performance is that of a fighter.

How many am I allowed to list? 🙂
I used to love watching the Oregon ANG F-15's take off from PDX before the nuts took over WA. They also used to have F-15's at McCord AFB, and B-52's at Fairchild AFB, but they're long gone.
Now I enjoy watching the B-1 Lancers at Dyess AFB.
My favorites have always been:
B-52
A-7D Corsair II
F-8 Crusader
C-141 Starlifter
B-1 Lancer

Wow, I didn't know that! But 336 plugs, no matter how easy, are going to eat up a lot of time. I was joking when I implied they could be changed out in a few hours by a shade tree mechanic.

You sound knowledgeable; how many man-hours would you expect the job to take? How often did the plugs have to be changed?
I suppose it would depend on how experienced one is at doing it for time spent. And then it depends on how much you care about what you are doing as well. How often? It can vary.

Money no object dream plane? SR-71 Blackbird. They’re just beautiful pieces of engineering. Being able to go Mach Jesus is just icing on the cake.

Something more reasonable? Bombardier Global 5500

someone here once picked up a glider with an engine(I think it was in Germany?), I really liked that concept.
That was me! The Stemme S-10. Awesome machine, no question. 75 foot wingspan! Thank goodness they fold. That's me on the left, the guy I'm flying with was a Soviet era Mig pilot. Interesting character, that's for sure.

I do the large cabin corporate jet thing all the time. They are incredible machines and for those who don't know, they have evolved into being stunningly capable long range machines. Our G650ER could go from the continental US to Sydney nonstop and still have 1000++ miles of reserve fuel. But I have to say, like any airplane, I do want to get out after 8 hours or so.

I just remembered another, the Platius Porter, STOL, UGLY Latter models TURBO PROP, search on You tube if this plane is unfamiliar to you.

I always likes Tom Dwelle's Sea Fury.
Me too... I got to know Tom in his hanger at Auburn airport and during the Reno Air Races... He's a real character and he's telling me the story when he suffered a major injury not in the air, but on the ground while working on the Fury during the 1995 Phoenix Air Races. He was checking on the emergency landing gear system when a pressure bottle exploded, taking four fingers off one of his hands... Look closely at his right hand and note those are his toes stitched in place of his fingers... you'll never know it until you shake his hand...

I'm simple, if I ever took up flying I'd like to have a Diamond DA42 or DA62. Seems practical and not too pretentious.

Of course, if I ever get to that point, it will probably be a 50 year old Cessna 172 at best. :)

I say I’d love one of those despite never having stepped foot onto an airplane 😅

I almost missed that “little” jet in the back corner!

Never flown one, but that DA62 is very intriguing 👍🏻
