What are you working on today?

Changed two lower hose clamps with brand new ones after discovering and confirming external leak on my road trip. One side was doubled up. At least one was leaking. Presently bleeding system of air...

Let's see if this solves the external leak or if we have only just begun.

I video'ed it, as well.

Got the used 5R55E installed in the Ford Ranger....Front & rear seals, Drained the converter, Flushed the cooler/lines, Farpak Pan Gasket & OE Filtran filter. 8 quarts of Maxlife ATF. Drove out great!!

2019 Chevy Traverse, 3.6L.....P0301 (#1 Misfire) & P0201 (#1 Injector Circuit Fault). Ohm'ed the Injector through the jumper harness, Got over 3,000 Ohm's. Pulled the Bank 1 Injectors & the #1 Injector coil itself has over 3,000 Ohm's. Replaced all 3 Bank 1 injectors with OE Delco's.
I don't remember the EXACT details now but I did a spill 'n fill on an '01 Ranger and thought I was super clever ordering the later model reusable gasket. WRONG, I was just super dumb (a regular occurrence) as it leaked like mad.

I forget what but they changed something with the pan to accommodate the later, thinner gaskets. Went back to the rubber provided in the cheap filter kit and all was well.

Mountain Dew .

Went out to spray weeds. Soon realized I had more weeds than spray. Also realized it is over 90° out and just showered so no sweating today. Put the truck in the garage to save it from a perfectly clear day, on one of the longest days of the year. Like the fact I can put the truck in the garage without using fuel.

The new OEM belt tensioner for my fiancé's 94 Cavalier that we got off of Rock Auto turned out to be junk. After I got it installed and everything put back together, it was jumping around a lot more than I thought was normal. We took it into town and ran some errands. We later went back out and got a little ways down the road and then heard the sound of the belt hitting stuff under the hood. Sure enough, the front half of the belt was stripped off. I limped it back home and unfortunately some loose pieces of belt wrapped themselves around the new power steering pump we put on last fall and now it's leaking everywhere. Took out the seal. Tensioner has a lot of side to side movement. She says she is done with it so for now the car is sitting.

Today I changed the oil in her 2017 F150 with the 5.0L with Motorcraft oil and filter.

I also changed the MAP sensor in her step-dad's 2017 F350 with the 6.7L diesel. Sensor went out with only 32,000 miles on the truck. I installed a new Motorcraft sensor and cleared the code and took it for a test drive. CEL stayed off and the voltages were normal on the scan tool. Previously the CEL would set as soon as you started driving the truck and the MAP sensor voltage was stuck at 0. Previously I had done some additional tests to verify that I was getting the correct voltages to the sensor and that I was able to get the PCM to recognize when I introduced a high voltage circuit code to the circuit to rule out the PCM. Truck appears to be fixed at this point.

2015 bmw 328 m sport, 89k
-all struts and shocks. Oh, bmw struts are such a pia to swap over with harbor freight spring compressors. Much swearing.
-zf8 fluid and filter swap. Fluid was barely discolored coming out and the magnets have only a small amount of grit on them. 6 qts of zf8 fluid went in. My zf6 has 249k on it. Seems like they know how to build a transmission.
- oil change on the n20 at about 7500 miles. Castrol 5-40 euro back in. The filter came with a plastic drain plug but my pan is aluminum so I reused the crush washer.

love my quickjack and my new garage. The epoxy was more comfortable to roll around on!

6 rolls of insulation stood up in vertical surfaces in the attic. It doesn’t sound like much but it took 2 hours. I tried the silver reflective stuff last weekend and it does not seem to have made much of a difference. used the traditional fiberglass rolls this time as I’m continuing.

Thursday
Installed a new distributor assembly in the 1980 Camaro, replaced spark plugs and wires
Went home at lunch and did some cleaning around the house

Today I ran some errands, went to the range for awhile, came home and washed the truck.

The Fit got sent back to its owner - besides the brakes, I also did a valve adjustment and a wash on it. Also tracked down the brake idiot light issue - parts cannoned a new OE Honda parking brake switch, didn’t work after a few miles. Found out the wire was either chafed or the fuel pump harness was rubbing up against the wire. Wrapped the fuel pump harness in Tesa tape and took the car out for a rough drive to replicate the situation - no problems.

Our fescue harvest is officially under way and looking better than expected, we’ve been receiving trucks every night this week. Tonight I’m in the Freightliner and lowboy parked in Searcy Arkansas overnight to pick up a truck frame in the morning and head back to Missouri

Welp, the Maxima is done. My plan was to give this to a family member, but a decision was made to purchase a newer car. I won't go into it, but now it's going to be posted for sale tomorrow. All in, probably close to 50 hours in this between fixing the paint, headlight resto, replacing the broken side mirrors, a new oil change/cvt fluid replacement, wash, wax, and clean interior.

Had my 12yo nephew over and him do some service work on my 2011 Silverado 2500 6.0 with 76,000 miles. Garage flushed the transmission, changed diff fluids and T-case fluid. 16qts of Dexron 6 and about 6qts of 80/90, ran some through the diff to flush any undesirable crap out. Found out the left front axle seal is leaking so that will be for another day with him.
