What are you working on today?

Lol yeah it’s a baby corn snake too. The way he described it as it was as thin as a pencil. My sister used to have a corn snake so I know exactly what size he is talking about lol. I better bring my running shoes tomorrow in case haha.
oh man.. you gotta update us tomorrow! This is like a tv show, I can just see it now.. you see it, camera pans over and all you can see is a blur of you running out the door! WHOOSH! :giggle:

but wow as thin as a pencil.. now that thing can hide!!

Today at work mostly trained new people. First new people in awhile but it was just two of us before we got two new ones. We had a car towed in a 2009 Prius that the owner was bringing his pet corn snake home from the vet in and lost the snake in the car so he had it towed in and wants us to find the snake. I told them I wasn’t getting near that thing if I see a snake my butt is running. I don’t fool with snakes lol. They gave it to one of the new guys to do lol. He hasn’t found it yet. Be my luck I come in tomorrow and he’s in my toolbox or something lol. Customer had it towed in so nothing would get hot or he would not get near the engine. I never thought we’d have someone coming in complaining of a lost snake lol 😂. He said rip the interior apart till you find him he is a rust orange color. I’d hate to see what his bill is going to be. So far new guy has door panels ripped off and a few other things like all the floor mats out. As long as the snake doesn’t get near me I’m ok lol. Everyone else in the shop is scared of spiders I can do spiders lol. They don’t bother me.

Never had that happen :ROFLMAO:. Corn/Rat Snakes are harmless & rarely aggressive....Copperheads, Cottonmouths & Rattlesnakes are the only snakes I fear & kill on sight. Have 6'+ Rat Snake that lives in my Pole Barn.....Better than any rat traps/poison!

Oil change and tire rotation for the Tacoma. First oil change it has ever recieved at 4473 miles! Even though I bought it used, they didn't change the oil as it only had 2500 miles on it. I knew it was the OEM filter as there was the usual metal flecks in the oil filter.

Used the spare tire to aid in the tire rotation. Didn't feel like putting it on jack stands...

Also wiped down the interior and engine, using 303 on the plastics.

Yes, I know the windshield is dirty  Been a non-stop battle with pollen and gravel dust courtesy of PennDot tarring and chipping roads. That and it's supposed to rain tomorrow, so no reason to wash the outside.

1970 Pontiac Firebird Formula
Replaced rear wheel cylinders, rear axle brake lines(left and right), cleaned and adjusted rear brakes, replaced master cylinder, changed oil.

Neighbors push mower got a new air filter, blade, and an oil change

Still didn’t find that corn snake today 🐍. Customer and his 9 year old son were balling their eyes out in the middle of the shop. I’m wondering if they just thought it was in the box when they got to the car and wondering if it didn’t escape beforehand. It was in a cardboard box with holes about the size of quarters in the top for air. They had taken it for its vet checkup which I didn’t know snakes needed checkups lol. The guy begged us to find it because he said he can’t lose more sleep and only has limited time off left from work we said well we can’t guarantee anything. Boss said we will finish taking it apart tomorrow and start putting it back together but we aren’t going to spend too much time on it. At our labor rate I’d hate to see the look on the customers face when he gets the bill. I can’t believe this guy called into work over a snake lol. Just me but i would not have. I even decided to jump in and help with the risk of seeing a snake lol. I think the most complicated thing is taking the dash apart that’s what we still have to finish up tomorrow. The customer was literally there from about 9am-5 when I left. We kicked him out for lunch which he didn’t like but we are like dude you can’t stay in the shop with no one here. I feel bad for the man and his son but I just don’t know what to think about how they are handling the situation. Not judging just saying. I don’t like customers being in the shop no one said anything about him being there and we aren’t allowed too so we just kinda dealt with it. If they aren’t too much I honestly just might buy them another snake if they will accept it. They showed us pictures of the snake. It’s a nice color but I honestly don’t think we are going to find the little guy.

thanks for the update.. at least we all know you didn't get your running shoes on and dart out the door! lol..
but I really thought they wouldn't find the snake. and sad that they had to be crying in the middle of the shop.. wow.. but that's really nice of you to offer to buy them a new snake.. you've got great character! (y)

Changed radiator cap for a brand new one on the vehicle between the Taurus and Sentra in sig.. seems to have been the issue.

Still have the old cap, for no reason.. seems to have failed.. symptoms were loss of coolant and coolant not drawing back into radiator after expanding to the overflow. No other symptoms (that indicate a larger issue. Since the cap replacement.. OE, of course. $9.70 at dealer.

Results seem promising. That's a good thing, of course.

Could be under the carpeting , battery under the rear seat or elsewhere . Hope it's found alive .

Is a Prius that airtight? I'd think a pencil snake could find its way out of a vehicle at night in the shop? I know mice tend to find a way IN to most of my vehicles.

It's probably living in your box as we speak. Be careful opening each drawer!

Yep we have some here in SW Colo too. I think aka King snakes? I looked it up and all I try to remember is the mantra I learned: red and yellow (adjacent) kills a fellow....

Geez I hope I'm remembering that right...otherwise I may wind up dead from underestimating a snake some day!

Degreased and power washed my 23 year old JD F510 front mower. It was disgusting. Need to replace the head.

Going to jack it back up high and see how clean the bottom came out tomorrow then put on the wheels. Take off the head. Bolts are pretty tight. Going to have to use a breaker bar.

1980 Chevrolet Camaro
Replaced all rear wheel lug studs and nuts, temporarily installed some 15" steel gbody wheels until the replacement torque thrust II's come in. Auction find, was driven with loose lug nuts on the rear and ruined the wheels.

2008 Chevrolet Tahoe
Replaced left front wheel hub, front sway bar links, serviced rear differential

Got the Swisher mower up and working. Got a cable at a local dealer and got her 100%.

Today I changed out the air filter on my 3500. The Napa gold wasn't too loaded up but with some long hauling in the near future it wouldn't be a bad thing. Got some Baldwin made one.

I then swapped out the fresh air filter on the 318G. It's a tiny filter that holds the dirt within the pleats, opposite of what you normally do with a filter. So this makes it tough to clean out. I grabbed some pre-filter foam and sandwiched between the filter and the retaining plate. Hopefully works...
