Loaded my friend's old Harley XLCR1000 Cafe Racer Sporster onto a trailer and cinched it down.
I have stored it for more than 10 years. It's pretty beat. Needs everything.
Still a pretty cool old bike.
Finished the rest of the rear view mirror install by hiding the mirror harness. Removing the overhead console allowed access to the cable to be pulled up and hidden away.
Zip tied it in place so it does not bang around in there.
Interesting little easter egg. I guess the "800" is to denote the GMT-800 platform.
No more ugly rear view mirror wiring harness dangling around.
Washed the Jetta this morning, had lunch and walked at a local park with the family, changed the transmission fluid / filter on the Taurus this afternoon, now sitting outside with my wife enjoying the evening.
I had to unscrew the lower oil cooler line to get access to the coolant drain on the new radiator, and while I did screw it on finger-tight I forgot to tighten it up with a wrench. Hence an oil leak and the loss of 1/2qt of oil. I’m kinda worried about any long-term damage.
CEL is on, it’s running rich as a pig. I suspect stuck IAC or injectors.
I had mail ordered a Standard Motor Products blower motor resistor from Amazon. But USPS was unable to deliver to an Amazon locker then sent it back to Amazon. So instead of waiting again for another mail order to take forever to not get here, I bought one at Advance Auto. Was not fun to install, but I have done worse. New one is on the left.
CarQuest part works fine. I have no idea who that actual manufacturer is, probably Standard, but no idea if T series or not.
Car is 1999 Oldsmobile Alero.
Replacing driver's side boost hose that has 2 tears in it, resulting a P0299 "Underboost" condition on my OM651.
This, after letting the MB stealership try to fix it 3 times and failing. Granted, they did give me a brand new wastegate actuator for free, and I got to drive around in a 2020 GLC300 for a week.
OM651 owners: if you get this trouble code, first thing to check is this boost hose. It's not the MAF, it's not the turbo(s), it's this hose. $110 and you're back on the road.
Replaced alternator belt and alternator on the d150. Was halfway through a water pump job on a 92 Chevy g20 van when my old employer asked me to come help him install a headliner in a 72 Chevrolet c10. Very chintzy plastic trim holds this piece in, and it was a pain, but we got it in. I'll finish the van in the morning.
Replaced the gas tank in an 84 Chevy C20, along with the sending unit and fuel pump. Flushed the lines. Got it running this afternoon and made minor adjustments to the timing and carburetor. Not working this weekend, but Monday it gets new front brake hoses and it's done. I replaced the rear hose 3 years ago.
Done a lot today. At work mostly just trained the 16 year old and followed him around helping on everything he did. At home we have been working the last few days cleaning out the basement man we have so much stuff. We are finally clearing it out so I can put all my shop equipment down there. We found many family heirlooms while cleaning too. And my dad gave me his old Stack-On tool box.
