What are you working on today?

Got the water pump and window regulator done on the Dakota. Customer also complained of a bumping noise in the rear. The two rear bed bolts were missing, and the bumper had been pushed up against the bed to where it couldn't be adjusted. I put a porta power between the spring shackle bracket and bumper bracket and pushed it out. Then I loosened all the bed bolts, slid the bed around, installed new bolts in the back holes and tightened all the bed bolts down.

Also serviced a couple of cars this afternoon and hauled a load of scrap.
Sounds like a good, productive day. If you don’t mind me asking; what you get for scrap? Thank You sir

Replaced brake pads on a 14 sonic this morning and changed the oil. Just got done folding and putting away laundry and taking some recycling downstairs.

I needed tires for my small 5x8 utility trailer and found that the wheel and tire was only $10 more than the tire alone, so I bought the wheel/tire combo.
I repacked the bearings on one side and replaced the entire hub assembly on the other. She’s ready to head down the road now.

Nothing much automotive today. Wife calls me in a panic because the BD tuner fell off the windshield mount. The suction cup let go in the heat. She mounts it back up but now its saying wasted energy and beeping everytime she accelerates or slow down.

She made it home and after some searches, she inadvertently turned on the dumb driving coach and it was set to all the low thresholds. Fixed in a minute and also the alarms shut off for the next time.

Today I finished my taxes and now I'm cleaning out a beat up old tin Craftsman tool box that's been my "truck" toolbox for many years and transferring everything to a new plastic Plano box. Lots of rusty tools to clean up and more than a few, "so that's where that went" discoveries. I found some different socket holders I'll be trying out and filling in a few missing pieces.

Looked for a gas leak on a 98 Chevy K2500. Tomorrow I've got another gas tank to put in. Went ahead and lifted the bed up on blocks on the left side so I can access the fuel lines and filler neck assembly before the tank comes out. Had to remove the spare tire to remove the trailer hitch, so I could access the 4 rear bed bolts. I'll probably change the oil after all the fuel tank work is done.

Got the tank replaced in the Chevy and serviced it. After lunch I'm going to help a friend run rear brake lines and put an adjustable panhard rod on his 72 C10.

Water valve in dads truck. According to him “no coolant will come out” after I suggested bringing a drain pan to catch the coolant as you can see who was right. The lot owner had a fit lol. He got over it then started joking around with us about it. We didn’t get to replace it because they changed the design of the new valves and so they don’t match up exactly so it didn’t have the flange on it. So we returned it and found a new old stock one on a truck parts website and got it ordered. I put the old one back in for now. Those bolts were very seized on there after 21 years. I applied anti seize to prevent that. The bolts also had to be removed with a wrench since a ratchet and socket would not fit neither would a ratcheting wrench. 🔧.

I ended up sleeping half the day away, so I've not done anything today. Tomorrow I'm going to go help out a little more on the C10.

This morning I changed the oil and greased the front end on my buddy's Duramax Chevy. Now I'm in the middle of helping him run front brake lines and packing front wheel bearings on his 72 C10.

Replaced the rear brakes on my 2015 Caravan. Original pads with 56k miles on them. The rust belt ain't nice to these brakes. Went with Raybestos Element pads and rotors.

Pads on one side were right down to the backing plate. From the looks of it, they should have been replaced last year.

Enjoy the pics.
