What are you listening to right now?

Van Halen from July 1979, recorded from the sound board at the show. This is the best old live VH I have heard. Edward sounds great here and Alex was just a human metronome. There are some very cool still pictures that I have never seen before, including a great shot of Edward with the Bumblebee. The original VH was a great rock band and I am sure this was just one huge party where a good time was absolutely had by all.

Anyone else remember this band ... I always thought they had some good songs.

I do. I have their first CD and I think somewhere I have Backlash, their second one too. The first album was pretty good but I did not care for Backlash, probably only listened to it once or twice and put it away. I wish John Waite would either come out with a good album or get in another good group. I really did not like his last solo album but he is/was a good singer. Neal Schon I really don't know what to think of him now, I liked his work with the first 4 albums with Steve Perry in Journey, and Trial By Fire was a good album. Arrival had a few good songs on it but seemed to me like Neal was further in the background. Can't say much for Jonathan Cain other than Escape is a great record, maybe one of the all time greatest rock records. Journey for me will always be the Infinity-era lineup with Steve Perry, Ross Valory, Gregg Rolie, Steve Smith and Neal Schon.
