What are you eating right now?

I did a three-day half-assed water cut and dropped another 8 lbs. A reminder for those who are unclear about a water cut. You minimize carbs, ideally cut them out completely. This will in turn deplete the glycogen stores. Glycogen holds a lot of water and as the glycogen stores get depleted a lot of water weight is shed. This process is aided by very low salt intake that helps minimize fluid retention. I also drank a gallon of stinging nettle tea every day for these three days because that's a natural diuretic. The disadvantages of the water cut include irritability, and, in conjunction with the cut in caloric intake, some loss of strength. It's also not the healthiest thing to do. Don't do that if you have kidney issues. Now that I weighed in I can replenish my glycogen stores with a few high-carb meals and destroy my buddy. I'm at 191 lbs and my buddy is actually half a pound heavier than me so this time he won't be able to complain I outweigh him.

The last week was rough. Not much food, just some chicken, mushrooms, tofu, then the 3-day water cut and only some protein. I had a souvlaki bowl tonight and before that I had a piece of pie to ease me back into carbs. The pie picture will be up shortly in My roadside food pictures.

Did you mention what form this manly man competition was to take? Pugilism? Feats of strength? Tidlywinks?

So what was the total Carb intake per day below 20 grams?

I didn't carb-count but the total daily carb intake couldn't have been above 30 g for a week. I did keep doing my routine exercises and my glycogen stores were depleted within 2 days. It did not feel great.

It depends but I'm always looking for a point break. Reef breaks are fun but getting tumbled bloody isn't.
You're a stud riding a hybrid - long point break - tough, but fun. When I was in my young teens I learned on a crazy short, it's all I could get for free - took awhile and lots of abuse of every variety. Later I bought a longer board and made a trailer for my bike. Then I discovered skiing and I have not surfed since I was 19. Quit skiing too, so I have become proficient at quitting!

Good on the diet, I've been steady eddy, maybe plus 1-2 pounds from my lowest point - but much stronger and balanced with pump classes and yoga. It's good though, seems like more lean mass, less beer guttage.

Our surf spots are varied with all kinds of breaks. A hybrid tends to work well under most conditions. A fish can be fun and is also a good choice if the surf isn't high. There are a few spots good for longboarding, most notably in Santa Cruz. That's a little far. Bolinas is a closer option.

I still go skiing every year. Ironically, I never got into snowboarding although I've tried it as a young guy. I just liked Alpine skiing better.

I'm going to be back to 198 or so in no time. The weightloss was almost all due to water loss. I don't recommend doing that without good reason.
