Getting ready to go pick up the car dad bought yesterday. Told him he has official grandpa status now lol

Sigh, we were supposed to go skating at 10 AM, but kid and wife are STILL sleeping (0948 EST).
That's ok, it's Christmas break, right? We are going to dinner at our friends' sister's house, should be a good time. Sometimes we need to maybe relax and not push to stay active all the time, right?
btw I am off from work using up my PTO through the end of the year. It would seem that in December I got stuff done on 2 cars, and also hit the dentist and doctor (it wasn't like previous years rushing by end of year and also with FSA, as although our period is 1/1 to 12/31, our insurance doesn't have deductibles as it's school district provided, but I still managed to get in on my time off this month)

Checked it today. The fans were coming on for a few seconds, off for a few, repeat. 12V was coming and going, but I think the 5V line was staying up, I did put a DMM onto a 12V wire and could see it cycle. Took it all apart to appraise the situation. At one point I was trying to remove the PS connector from the MB, then went to replicate the problem, only to have it working fine. ? The contacts are not gold plated and I am guessing it just needed the connector reseated--wipe away any corrosion. I've seen gold plated connections do that, but it's way more common on non-gold plated contacts. I would not have guessed it here, but who knows, maybe it was not the 12V line but rather the two wires that tell the supply to wake up? if those two go high impedance but heat from the wiring carrying the start up current cause enough heat for things to move just slightly... grasping at straws here. Finally got the connector off and pushed it back on. Computer repairman I am not.
Anyhow, it's up and running now, been up for an hour, on standby. Maybe it'll last a bit longer.
I did wipe off the old thermal compound on the CPU, didn't have any good stuff*, used some of the white goop that I have lying around. It wasn't that. [*Forgot my son messes with computers, sure enough, he has some of the newer gray goop. Maybe I'll redo it later.]
Cats are not to be trusted. Much like Schrödinger's cat you can never tell if they have been both good and bad.

All for wife. My usual hack job wrapping session involves re-using Amazonian boxes. Only one thing actually from Amazon. I even put a Wood's Coffee gift card ($50) in a box (hee-hee). Other stuff of pure and 22K gold, diamonds, Milk Street book (2024), puffer jacket, etc

There is definitely that. As soon as one realizes how inferior one's station is compared to their feline companion, the easier it gets.
Wife's entire family coming over for Christmas Eve dinner and play games. Actually dreading it. Nothing wrong with her family....I'm just not a crowd person. Heck, I'm not even a people-person. Probably spend most of my time in my office messing around with my computer.
