I put in an experimental (redneck engineered) dry sump for in a collection area for rainwater before it goes over the pond bank this spring. it was a 55 gallon barrel with holes drilled in the top and bottom. Then covered in landscape material, set in the hole and covered by a three bags of river rock. First big rain we had it popped out and got stuck. I had a 2" stack pipe in one of the bungs for access but for some reason put a cap on it. Only solution was to pick through all the rock by hand first, then get what was down the sides and holding it cocked.
Got it out but now have to clean out he bottom with my 6 foot auger hole shovel, rock and mud now.
Then I need to drill more holes in it and on the sides too. This time get the pipe straight and I'll put a lot more weight on it at least until the dirt gets settled in around it.
