What are things you will never do again?

Drink Jagermeister
Sampled too much of each of the six flavors at the factory. I was in pain.
NO was just a gross place to be during Mardi Gras.
I'm glad you put it that way.
NO made for great working environments. The locals communicated well and it wasn't during Mardi Gras.
I'd totally avoid any such mad-house party.

When I was young, I worked on ranches high up in the Rockies during the summer to earn money.

One late Saturday night, my friends and I got all corked up and decided that we needed to head up to the corral to ride the meanest, most ornery horses bareback.... naked... wearing nothing but cowboy hats and cowboy boots.

Seemed like the right thing to do at the time. Laughed our butts off. 🤣

Pretty sure that's a one and done!

Stupidly went on a mountain hike when I had a hernia. Drove up to the 9500' ski area and the top is 12600' with a good trail. I was at probably just under 12K when I noticed clouds forming (summer AZ storms and lightning) and I was tired, so I turned around. For some reason, going down REALLY started to affect the hernia. About 1/4 of the way down, I was in a lot of pain and could see the ski runs down the mountain to the left, which I knew very well. I thought "Hmmm, go down the mountain off trail, hit the run and head straight down...faster and less distance.". A much larger, very dumb thing to do to the nth degree. So I did and walked the jeep trails. I was still about 300 yards from the parking lot in horrendous pain, and thought I'd have to lie down for a bit as I could barely put one foot in front of the other I was hurting so bad. Couldn't lie down as there were huge ants roaming around, so I just stood still for about five minutes to recover. Every time I think of this I give myself a mental stupid slap! I think I heard on the news a body was found on the mountain of a missing hiker from a few years ago who had gone off by himself. Could have been me with one little slip, loose rock, root, or branch and no one would have known. So, don't go off trail and don't hike with a hernia.

136MPH on my motorcycle. I was young and dumb and got to experience death wobble. It was a miracle that I got slowed down with my hands off the bars, my foot on the rear brake, and leaning to stay out of the ditch. I never rode a motorcycle over 70 MPH again, ever.

I ride faster than that on almost every ride. According to GPS, todays max speed was 168 mph. No one sees it other than my wife, who is usually right there with me on her own bike. Of course our bikes are sportbikes, which are designed for such speeds. We love beautiful roads, devoid of any other traffic.

Buy another motorcycle. Just sold the VStar 1300 two days ago. Went on a full day ride to the mountains a couple of weeks ago on it, and realized I would have rather taken the car and gone hiking with my wife.
We've been doing more hiking in the mountains this year now that we're both retired, and really enjoying it.

It's ok, until it's not.
I wish you and your wife continued luck.

Decided to take the California Zephyr Amtrak from Chicago to Denver last year. Rain washed out the tracks in Nebraska and we had to take an 8 hr detour though the NW part of Nebraska over tracks that had not see a passenger train since the steam engine days. 30 mph for the most part as the tracks were made for freight hauling potash I think. About the only thing out there. What a waste land.

Califonia Zepher detour.webp

I’ll never drive 150 mph or higher. At 19 I did and had a stay at the iron bars inn.

My 2007 car (true story) by mistake I hit 135 indicated. I immediately backed it down.

Why won’t I? One the penalty for doing so, and having a more realistic assessment of risk v reward, than when I was 19.

Geez....that is incredibly dumb. On a racetrack? Fine. Public roads? Unquestionably risky.
