Mine was that annual bike ride Ragbrai across Iowa, maybe 25 years ago. It started in my small town, like this year again..
Brings a BUNCH of people into town!

I hosted about 15 riders in my back yard and house. Grilled out for them and had a feast.
We got drunk later, and walked down town.

They had a crane and bungee jumping in a parking lot. A friend dared me, and I did it like a fool. Never again! :(

136MPH on my motorcycle. I was young and dumb and got to experience death wobble. It was a miracle that I got slowed down with my hands off the bars, my foot on the rear brake, and leaning to stay out of the ditch. I never rode a motorcycle over 70 MPH again, ever.

Send stupid stuff to someone. Lesson learned. Luckily it was a scam or I’d have been in big trouble. It was a big scare and an embarrassment too and my family hated me for it but I fell for it. Never will send that type of thing again to anyone. Literally I couldn’t sleep for days and was so shaky at work people asked if I was ok because I thought I was going to go to jail over it.

Hunt an elephant. Can’t afford to do it twice.

Are these animals picked out similar to how we deer hunt? For instance I might harvest a smaller rougher looking deer over a huge buck. That gives the buck opportunities to reproduce and hopefully continue to continue to spawn desirable animals. We call them "management deer" because its a vital part of herd management.

Ride anything motorized with two wheels in my neck of the woods.

We seem to have at least two fatalities a month. A lot of it is people too busy with their cell phones or idiots who are driving three ton vehicles without paying attention.

I almost saw someone get hit head on at 50+ mph while waiting at a red light. The idiot at the very last second swerved into the wrong opposing lane of traffic.

I love the open road... but I'm riding it in a high-strength steel cage until I leave the metropolitan Atlanta area.

They are old bachelor bulls past their breeding prime that have been kicked out of the herd by the matriarchs. They have to be culled, because they destroy crops for villages. All the meat goes to the locals (who are starved for protein). The growth of human population has encroached on elephant historical land where they have been able to wander. It’s fascinating to watch a 13000 pound elephant uproot a 30 foottree to get at the tender shoots on top of the tree. Kills a 25-30year old tree for one meal. Contrary to what is mistakenly preached by some- elephants are not endangered. They have to cull 1000s every year (whole herds) to keep the population down for future sustainability. Elephants kill many people each year in Africa- so the villagers love hunters. No wild animal in Africa dies of old age- circle of life- when they get old & weak- leopards, lions, and hyenas take them down. The trophy fees hunters pay go directly into conservation & feeding the locals. A win-win for everyone. .

Elephant hunting is very taxing. You hunt an elephant with your feet. You will typically find spoor and may walk 15-20 miles a day under the sun on uneven ground. An elephant can walk faster than you can run. You have to get within 10-15 yards to shoot one. Have to use solids because their skin is 3-4 inches thick. If you wound one- it can take off and travel miles and miles- you will probably never see it again and you’ll lose your 40K trophy fee and never get another opportunity on that hunt. Your adrenaline is so high getting that close to an animal that can kill you without hesitation. Typically elephant hunts are 14-21 days and run about 50-60K.

Mardi Gras. Even when I was young and appreciated a good party, NO was just a gross place to be during Mardi Gras. Did not enjoy it at all.

RAGBRAI, on the other hand, I'd do again if I had the time, even if it's been over 30 years.
