I've just taken possession of a company car for my wife's employer. It has been transferred here for an employee that will rotated in for three months. It was due for an oil change, so I took it to a Kwik Kar place.
As the vehicle was getting the oil changed, one of the employees asked what type of oil he wanted. The guy said Pennzoil and the employee said he didn't like it. Having a gut feeling about what he would say next, I asked why he didn't like Pennzoil. "It has wax in it and they use a cheaper base stock than Valvoline which uses a much better one." The customer chose to go with Castrol since he felt it was a good oil.
At least he didn't go with that candle in a bottle Pennzoil.
I wonder how many people that employee has steered away from Pennzoil in his time there. There a a Valvoline shop, but carry many different brands of stuff in bottles. A Mobil 1 change is only $70. Royal Purple is a great deal at $65. I selected Valvoline for the car. I think it was $36.
