2024 Totals: "Post your latest oil change"

Here's an article from the Engine Oil Journal: Can You Mix Engine Oil Brands. In summary:

"While it’s not catastrophic to mix engine oil brands occasionally, consistency is key for long-term engine health. Using the same brand and type of oil ensures that your engine gets the full benefit of a carefully engineered formula. It helps maintain optimal lubrication, keeps internal parts cleaner, and provides better protection under stress.

So, while you can mix oil brands, it’s best to do so only when necessary. When it’s time for your next oil change, stick with one trusted product that meets your car manufacturer’s recommendations. That way, your engine gets the consistent care it needs to stay strong, efficient, and reliable."

My nickel, since we have ended penny production, is that a person doing professional oil changes in a shop is definitely skewing the data. If I worked at xlube and did 20 a day and post them all, those changes are irrelevant to the thread about members' oi changes. My shop oil, no matter what the brand I use etc. does not represent the preferences of the members. Just what I did in my shop.

Exactly. I want to see what BITOGers are running, not what Joe Public is getting because it’s cheap for somebody’s shop in bulk. That usage doesn’t mean anything to us relative to our own community.

Ok, so I wanted to revisit this. I had my original post deleted because I felt like it sounded like I was complaining, and I didn't mean to come off that way. I just want to know if I ought to comb through my oc post and request deletion of the ones I posted that were shop/customer/customer supplied oil changes. Also, what about oil changes done on a vehicle that was flipped. My most recent one was a 99 GMC Sonoma I did a few things to and sold. That would mean that only about two, maybe three of the oil changes I posted were personal vehicles and my own oil choice. Never intended to skew the collected results, I just thought the original thread was for oil changes period, so I "posted my latest oil change". 😅

Just don't worry about it. Your posts aren't that big a deal to go to all that trouble. I didn't mean to target you, had no one in mind at all when I made my hypothetical post.
Now if I was going to pick someone to troll, it would be Automechanic because he'd get the joke and have a good laugh over it.
