20 wt oil for neighbor

Neighbor asked if I could pick him up 6 quarts of 0w20 oil when I told him I was going to Wally. I asked what brand he just said any big name will be fine so I decided between mobil 1 EP or Valvoline EP. Which one of the two do you guys prefer better? And if there’s a reason why choosing that brand. I’m assuming it’s going into one of his 2 Newer cars his Jeep Cherokee 4-banger or his wife’s Buick not sure of his or her driving style, but I know he changes oil every 5k as I had previous conversation with him. I also asked about a filter which he said he has. Thank you all in advance for your replies.

I'd lean toward M1, but really, either brand is good.

For 5k mile OCIs in a modern vehicle, get him the least expensive lube. In fact, he'd be perfectly fine with the ST brands, given what you've told us.

Mighty neighborly of you but if he doesn't care what brand you're over thinking it. Quaker State Ultimate Protection is $23/jug compared to the M1 EP at $30/jug.

I like the moly count of the Valvoline, but neighbours don't likely care about details like that, so you can't go wrong with either.

But it's amazing how far down the ladder an oil like Castrol Syn 0w20 has slid. Castrol hardly gets mentioned in the ILSAC 0/5w20/30 groupings anymore.

Mobil1 ESP 0W20 X2.

If I was somehow stuck on using a 20-grade I would use ESP. On the same shelf as the others, less expensive than EP and has the proven performance of VW 508 00 approval. There is zero advantage to EP with an 5K OCI.

I don’t often use 0w20, but when I do it’s ESP 0w20.

That FIAT MultiAir throttle-less engine needs all help it can get, also the Pentastar.

I have liked Valvoline in the past, but I would go with M1 EP and sneek in the last extra qt with 0W40 supercar

Oil forums tend to bring out opinions like that, lol. I wish I knew what was "the best oil "
