While the OE pump may have failed relatively early, often times the replacements already have the issue (if any) addressed - sometimes it's just a fluke failure.
When I have the time, I'll yank the Bosch unit off and replace with an OE Hyundai pump.
An exception to the generally low quality of aftermarket pumps is the Altrom line from NAPA. They offer products (including but not limited to water pumps) from the actual OE supplier. The major downside that they're only for imports (Asian and some Euro).
As your post here alludes to, it seems some foreign makes are harder to get quality after-market parts. A domestic vehicle like the OP is dealing with an a replacement with lifetime warranty isn't necessarily a bad move. It is a newer vehicle, so the 'issue' may not even be known yet, if it is widespread. I'm sure some with access could look for WP info on TSBs,etc ? My point is, it may not be addressed yet and the aftermarket already looks better now according to the OP. I'm sure he'll be able to examine more closely once the part arrives.
I do agree that the Altrom line is a good lineup from Napa, at least as far as buying replacement parts locally for foreign makes like a Honda, Toyota, etc. At least if you have to save and the dealer is wanting much more, Altrom is generally cheaper. Sometimes, other aftermarket for those have better deals are equally and sometimes better parts.
For instance, on my Civic I could have gotten an Altrom clutch kit of 2 sources with the Altrom label: an NKK or an Ultra-8.
I chose an EXEDY OEM replacement instead, for less money. So far so good.
