Noisy Honda water pump

2015 Accord 2.4L 85k km, have had a slight noise whoowhoowhoowhoo coming from the front of the engine for a few years now, no seepage noted, replaced tensioner, belt, alt just because...and I don't mind have these on the shelf and they are easy to replace. I have not replaced the water pump and have probed around- seems that it is the culprit- will drop the belt and see if it persists. Have a oem pump in hand just in case. Just wondered what the experience is out there in the import crowd for noisy but functional pumps. I'm thinking it's a pulley issue maybe pitted or scarred and making belt noise. Bugs me that it should be silent.

Wow it's not a V6! I thought for sure it was going to be about a V6, since Honda V6 water pumps are known for warbling!

Most likely, it's the pulley, possibly the bearing in it.

If it were me, I’d take the belt off and spin the individual pulleys by hand. You’ll know if it’s the water pump or something else pretty quickly.

I had a similar problem years ago on my Corolla - no leaks but the water pump pulley bearing was shot and making a racket. Only way I could tell which pulley was bad on the accessory drive was by taking the belt off and spinning them by hand, individually.

I sourced a Yamada pump for replacement, I'm a Aisin fan normally but lately some of their aftermarket products seem marginal.

I agree. Take off the belt, and spin each pulley individually. No sense changing water pump if it's not bad. Mileage isn't that high either IMO for a bad WP.
