I replaced my water pump on my 2005 Chevy 5.3 a few months ago with a Melling MWP-500 WT. from Summit Racing. Comes with a new thermostat and a 3 year warranty. $126.00 with free shipping. Quiet as a mouse so far.
2021, I bought a new pump for my 2008 4.2L Trailblazer, the Original pump was made in Canada and so was the replacement, it was the GM Genuine pump not to be confused with the cheap crap "Delco Professional" pump.

Correct; the two options you have from GM is the ACDelco 252-822 (China) and Genuine GM 251-731 (Canada). The Canadian pump is OE and 3 times the cost of the Chinese one, for good reason. Every other pump I've looked at for this application was made in China, with the exception of the OE unit and that's what I went with. When it comes to any application, I will go the extra mile to buy an OE pump.
