Walmart Super Tech - has it been discontinued?

Remember the OPEC oil embargo 50+ years ago? I'm sure you do.
I don't recall the '73-'74 one but the '79 issues I do. You could only by gas on odd/even days based on license plate #. My parents had one odd and one even My job daily was to swap plates as needed so dad go and keep them full so he could go to work. Most places had limits on gallons.

We did a trip towing trailer with a '75 Ford LTD. We had 4-5 Five gallon gas cans inside the trailer in case we needed them. Probably not the safest thing. At the highway fuel stops he would get what he could then pulled around to the opposite side and did it again. We brought the other license plates in case we needed them. Memories!

Wouldn't make that blanket statement at all. It entirely depends on the individual vehicle and usage case.

Many turbo GDI fuel dilluters shouldn't be going the recommended OCI with their recommended weight oils, much less pushing that out a couple thousand miles. Ironically, newer vehicles might be returning to the 3000 mile oil change.
It's totally pathetic and you're absolutely right.

If you need a filter go score a special from one of the local auto part stores az has stp oil with 10k filter promo for under $30 at least for my vehicle

I said it once and I'll say it again, all the non-BITOG-type people in my life thought I was crazy buying oil as often as I did.

Now I'm set for years with top flight oil I bought for about 1/3 of what it's currently priced at in Canada. Who's the crazy one NOW 😜 🤪?

Oh no, we're still crazy. By sheer accident it just happens to be useful at the moment.

You hang out here don't you? :ROFLMAO:

I'm not buying the notion that one little straight controls so much supply that it's causing all of these problems...
It's not the straight that's the problem. Refineries in UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar that produce 20% of the worlds supply of high quality Group III base stocks that are used in most modern low viscosity synthetic motor oils were bombed by Iran in May and are currently out of production. They will not be rebuilt and brought back online for the foreseeable future, either. Not until the hostilities have been resolved. Even then it will take years to get that production capacity back.

It's a simple matter of supply and demand.

Petroleum products are a semi-inelastic class of product meaning it is very difficult for consumers (both industrial and end purchasers) to significantly reduce their consumption. The makes supply side shortfalls quite impactful in terms of price pressure. Economics 101.
