Alright guys, I going to let everyone on BITOG choose my next oil change for my 2003 Hyundai Elantra GT 2.0L I-4 engine.

Here are the choices from my local O'Reilly ad. Vote and choose your favorite !

1. Mobil 1 (5qts) with Mobil 1 Oil Filter $29.99

2. Mobil 1 EP (5qts) with Mobil 1 Oil Filter $31.99

3. Royal Purple Synthetic (5qts) with K&N Oil Filter $39.99

4. Mobil Clean 5000 (5qts) with Microgard Oil Filter $11.99 (considering switching oil filter to Wix for better quality)

5. Valvoline Conventional $2.79 a quart with a Mobil 1 or Wix Oil Filter purchase

6. Pennzoil Conventional $2.79 a quart with a Mobil 1 or Wix Oil Filter purchase

7. Valvoline SynPower $3.99 a quart with a Mobil 1 or Wix Oil Filter purchase

8. Pennzoil Platinum $3.99 a quart with a Mobil 1 or Wix Oil Filter purchase

I am leaning my decision to full synthetic since I don't go too far with the car and it is hot in Texas right now with temps in the upper 90s to low 100s each day. The votes with the most selected choice is what I'll be using until the beginning of the Winter season. Enjoy your picks !

wow you mentioned some good oils.. I would go with Valvoline or Pennzoil $2.70 a quart that engine will outlast the rest of the car in most cases so why waste the cash?

Id go with #8 Im running PP 5-w30 in my hyundai 1.6L and she seems to like it , better gas milage than i got with the GTX +++ 15.50 for 5 quart bottle at wally world or 12.50 for the PYB. QS synthetic is good specialy with the 10$ MIR ... 8.50 for 5 quarts

you could run option #3 for 10,000 miles or one year, whichever occurs first. For 39.99, that's a pretty good deal too!

Synpower is a fantastic oil, so is Royal Purple. if money is no object, Royal Purple.

I'd say #3 or #6, leaning to #6. I like #3 because you can go longer and any worries about winter/summer oil are taken care of.

On the other hand, considering where you are, that's why I'm leaning towards #6. You can't go wrong with PYB, and that's coming from a Mobil fan.

As much fun as it is trying out different oils, I vote just pick the one you like best and stick with it for a while, unless you find a reason to change brands.
IMO, experimenting for a while to find what you like is harmless, but in the long run, it is probably a little better for the engine to not change brands/types very frequently.

I have no proof, other than this recommendation from an old owner's manual but that is what I've heard and read a few times.

#4 and ask about a filter upgrade to a Purolator Classic, IIRC they upgrade for a buck or two.
