Double ARX it -- it will clean up just fine as long as there is no mechanical damage. Perhaps a 10w-30 might be best for the first clean in case there are any circulation issues. How's it look under the filler cap?

You may want to follow up with some lube control thereafter just to get whatever residual varnish might be left around.

A 12k dino OCI is waaaaaay too long on that turbo. Thank goodness it's a Volvo and not a VW.

Well I finally dropped the oil and it was much thicker than 30W and brown. In went ~6qts of ACD and 6oz LC. My friend reports smoother running and about 2 MPG gain. I'm still trying to talk him into an Rx cycle.

My question is if he agrees can I use the oil that we just put in or should I wait until the next change?

The oil is already treated with LC, so I would hold off from adding any other treatments until the next change.

Update: After 5K miles we dropped the ACD/LC mix and the oil looked like it came out of a diesel, jet black. Based on that I talked my friend into an Rx cycle. In went 15/40 HDMO (Rotella) and Rx. Currently this has about 500 miles on it. I'm wondering should we do the auto trans and PS with Rx as well?
