The jug I just bought 2 weeks ago has it printed on it. Maybe a formulation change coming like you said. I hope not as it's readily available and one of the least expensive 504/507s.

Mobil1 dropped BMW approvals in 2015 reformulation of their products. They had bit higher oxidation than BMW allowed (BMW approvals are strictest in that category). It could be that new Mobil1 formulation cannot meet certain aspects of VW approvals or VW updated their approvals (blenders know about updates far in advance, though, so this is possibly Mobil1 decision to reformulate).

That is AFE 0W-30 and not ESP 0W-30.

ESP is the ACEA C3 & VW 504/507 oil.

My bad, got cought up in the moment about ESP allegedly losing its 504/507 approval as indicated earlier by @930.engineering. I'll still run what I have either way.

Are you saying you will use the older ESP? I would definitely do the same.

I am, yes. The ESP was an easy choice. Still in warranty till 2025.

Indeed, Noack is lower for 5W-30. That's why I settled for it.

Thanks for the feedback. I couldn't find recent VOA, but it looks like add pack is similar, at least for boron and moly.

Add pack will be similar. But, 5W30 will be more shear stable.

My 2019 Arteon has an under hood sticker specifying both 504 and 0w-30. I use the VW branded oil from FCP Euro which is the same as Mobil 1 ESP, so lifetime oil changes.
