My two Suzukis, a 2006 Grand Vitara and a 2012 Kizashi both had recalls for a passenger seat problem which could inactivate the airbag in a crash. After ignoring the many pesky notices they kept sending I decided it was important and I relented. The very nice customer service person in Brea, Ca. assigned me to a local indy shop and shipped the necessary parts to them. The work was done and the recall satisfied. I don't know if or when safety recalls are subject to a statute of limitations but in this case the company went way beyond their obligations.

Suzuki left the US/CAN market about 2013. Their customer service is nonpariel. They need to come back.

Yeah, I was disappointed they left. That Kizashi had good safety ratings too.
I don't remember what year it was but I know of one guy that's still driving his Grand Vitara for over 15 years now.

I was looking at old 2006 era SAAB's & they were still offering airbag recalls. Pretty interesting.

Thats pretty cool that they sub'd out to an independent place. Glad you were well taken care of.

For SAAB, I would imagine a GM dealer at this point would be the recall fixer?

Had Suzuki released the Kizashi and had its quality on other products it's likely they'd still be here. Anyone remember Dihatsu's fleeting what 4 or five years of sales in the USA?

I did a few claims on the Kizashi, always thought they looked good. Too bad it didn't save the company, but it was a good note to leave on. Definitely a collectors car in the future IMHO.
