Went to Colorado last weekend and everything was great. Was getting 33mpg in the mountains with the powerboost and got about 20-21 to and from kc-Denver. Went to leave work today and put my uniforms in the back seat and went to grab my handle to get in the truck and noticed my handle was cracked. Took a closer look at it and looks like someone tried to use A screwdriver and pry the lock out to get in. It actually cut and split the door skin. Had to of happened downtown in the parking garage cause i parked under the light facing the truck in the hotel. Filed a claim with insurance and gonna have it looked at tomorrow. Truck just rolled over 8K miles.

Where were you in Colorado? Aurora has turned into a nightmare along with parts of Denver.

Ugh, makes me sick just to look at the pics, and I don't own it. Whoever did it, just low life thieving scum. The dregs of society. Hope you are able to find a very competent repair shop and can get it all repaired to your satisfaction. Sorry about your experience. smh literally.

Why? What has caused that to happen?
Too many quick loss of jobs in the area?
Too much of that wide open "pot" sales and use and the after effects that follow just like some other things?
Too many new people to the area?

Wow that's too bad. You probably didn't even have anything worth taking. We always park way far away from other vehicles and lo and behold we had our first paint chip from someone opening their door on our door edge guard. It was on the new Rav 4 hybrid. I always felt on that ding someone did it out of jealousy or spite and didn't even know us.

A combo of things. Cars are easy to steal.
Social media facebook/tiktok rewired our brains.
CHILDREN steal cars and do incredibly stupid things in them and livestream it to be rewarded with views and likes.
There is no accountability, most of these children were not "raised" as we know it and are feral. We actually have a LOT more feral children now because of covid. People who are breeders but nor parents used schools as daycare centers. With covid these kids sat at home with a laptop wasting their time on social media.
These children do not face actual consequences due to our legal system.

That is on top of actual crime wave sweeping through the US.

The mayor more or less didn't keep crime in check. Housing prices have way outpaced income. Four years ago alot of housing was affordable on $100k per year. Parts of Denver are now in the $170-175,000 per year income to qualify afford housing.

To a degree yes. Aurora has a wide range of demographic and economic issues. It is a large city both in population and land area (as big or bigger than Denver) and was in an expansion/growth mode without too much consideration for future infrastructure issues in the early 70's. I worked for a civil engineering company at the time. We were designing residential subdivisions ranging anywhere from 400 to 1000 single family homes per month. Sometimes multiples of these at a time. This went on until the economic melt down in the early 80's. The homes were ALL affordable at the time selling in the 30 to 40K range. These areas of the city are still the least cost housing available in the metro area. But as a result it has attracted a diverse cross section of demographics with regards to ethic groups. Over the years this has generated gang issues, turf issues, etc. The city due to it's size cannot adequately patrol itself. It cannot hire the number of law enforcement officers it needs. In the past few years they have also had problems with some of the quality of officers they have hired and it has fostered ill will with citizens. One could say the bad element has taken advantage of these problems. The city is working hard to address these issues but it will take time and naturally money.

Far more complicated than that.
Above explanation is pretty good.
Take into consideration that both Denver metro and Springs had pretty substantial dip in rental prices due to slew of new construction.
Aurora has typical issues of large metro area that didn’t keep up with infrastructure, law enforcement investments etc. etc.
