Here is the contents of synpower;

SX-UP VOA

They both are good sources for Boron and Moly. Usefull since a lot of oils still don't have Boron. Which one do you guys think is better?

Id venture to guess that sx-up has other stuff in it that is costly and very beneficial, while the synpower is a profit leader type of thing.

SX-up will cost more, especially with shipping, but Id bet there is a lot more good stuff in it, which would help out your oil more.

Not only is SX-UP a better product but it also supports on of the most generious moderators on this site. I understand that price is an issue with everyone but their is a reason why SX-UP cost more! Their is also the point that if we do not at least try to support site sponsor then this site my dry up or disappear.

One thing I like about SX-UP is is not loaded with VII's and has more then just moly and zddp in it. I like the fact that I can use in hydralic systems with out haveing to worry about viscosity or foaming.

Why does everyone always talk about moly and not Boron? Boron seems very important too.

Do we know whether or not SX up or Synpower have Antimony in them?

Their is plenty of technical discussion about SX-UP!!Molakule has talked about more then once. He has even spoken about the stuff that does not show up in VOA. Have you used the search the function? On the other hand how much do we know about Valvoline's product other then what UOA tells us.

Does Valvolines product have 5 different ester's in it? Does Valvolines product contain corrision inhibitors? Does their product contain any deactivators to protect copper adn other yellow and soft metals? Do we know anything at all about their product other then what a simple VOA tells us?? On the other hand we have some preety technical and indepth product information from it's developer on this site from Molakule.

Yes, I know. Did you read my first post where I posted the links to the VOA's of the products? Yes, I searched for info regarding Antimony in the two products and found nothing. John, why are you so worked up that I dared compare the two?

Clearly though, the old timers of this board should post a warning. Don't question any of the "sacred" products (ARX, LC, etc) or you will be shown the door or flagged with the BS meter. Some of you defend these products the way FG defends oil filters.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, VSOT is the first additive I have ever used that made a difference at the gas pump (5~8% city gain, nothing highway) Its paid for itself within 2~3 tanks for gas for the 3 vehicles I have done serious testing on.

I have never tried any of the others, but I am very interested in these Moly, Boron, and Antimony technologies.

Way back when I pointed out that the emperor indeed had no clothes (that Redline oil is actually BAD for your engine's longevity), I got my legs striped with a weed-eater as well.

Eventually, the truth will be revealed, however, as has been shown in the UOA section here. I told a guy who was killing his Dodge engine with Redline oil to try a good dino. He tried Castrol 5W30 and VOILA~!, as predicted by the lowly layman (moi

) the UOA came back much, much better.

Stay the course.

By the way, this isn't to disparage SX-UP (other than to point out the obvious which is that its name makes it sound like an aphrodesiac

)

OFF TOPIC: (a little)
A similar situation occurs when someone uses dino oil, then switches to a syn oil suddenly, experiences oil leaks/consumption because the "crud seals" are gone, and then posts a question about "syn oil started a leak...should I go back to dino? etc":
All the people here who love syn.oil come out and defend syn.oil, and start accusing the owner, or the engine(how bad that engine is), and also critisize going back to dino oil: (you did something wrong, stay with syn. and lose oil, it's not the syn, it's your old engine etc.).

I appreciate your posts, but I have to say that Redline oil has worked very well for me. I have used Redline for quite a while in many engines,. and these engines have been driven carefully but very hard.

And I have never had an engine problem, even with over 400,000 miles on an original and scheduled service only engine.

I did run a 10,000 mile UOA on a new Subaru, and it had a great UOA.

I really think that almost all the products out there are decent and in many cases we are talking small increments of improvement or harm.

VSOT is very good stuff and I feel comfortable recommending it, but I am going to take a serious look at Schaeffer's 132 Moly EP Oil Treatment. If this stuff is all it's cracked up to be, I may just be switching over (even to the point of returning my 3-bottle VSOT stash).
