My Wal Mart has tons of R&P and same with EPHM. no silly promotional garbage as I notice it sells good here. Our TLE uses primarily QSI also noticed they took the promotional signs down in the service area.

Because it doesn't clean deposits and free up stuck gummed up piston rings.I’m curious as to why Valvoline EPHM Doesn’t get love Reatore and Protect does![]()
From BrendanC cut and posts I see lots of gunk in the cans.Because it doesn't clean deposits and free up stuck gummed up piston rings.
Some of that debris can simply be from piston ring blow-by, even when using oils that aren't suppose to do major cleaning like Valvoline R&P. You've seen filter C&Ps after someone has used VRP ... some are majorly loaded with debris that was a result of the cleaning process. From BrendanC cut and posts I see lots of gunk in the cans.
But not yesterday. 1x 5qt 5W-20 was it (and single quarts at like $11 each). Manager checked his system for stock and most I pass didn't show any. Closest to work showed 10x 0W-20, no others. I went on way home they only had 3 jugs in the back. No VRP, at least 5 qt on shelves. The WM 5 minutes the other way has had all the viscosities every time I went.
This didn’t age well. Its a big marketing hype/push and will likely hit clearance in a year.
It causes Rod Knock failure tooThis didn’t age well.
The marketing hype machine is working great this time around. Folks who have perfectly clean engines are buying it anyway. This didn’t age well.
Nothing wrong with that. Sometimes people think their engines are perfectly clean but it turns out that the rings are carboned up.The marketing hype machine is working great this time around. Folks who have perfectly clean engines are buying it anyway.![]()
Some folks are cynics and base their whole personality on that so evidence to the contrary is to be ignored at all costs.Nothing wrong with that. Sometimes people think their engines are perfectly clean but it turns out that the rings are carboned up.
There are VOAs regarding detergents in conjunction with UOAs. They are all stellar. The marketing hype machine is working great this time around.

Hyundai / Kia owners should probably use VR&P full time for a 4,000 mile OCI .There are VOAs regarding detergents in conjunction with UOAs. They are all stellar.

Yep. Anything that’s prone to sticking oil control rings should run it from day 1 IMO.Hyundai / Kia owners should probably use VR&P full time for a 4,000 mile OCI .
